Sony is tipped to reveal its long-rumoured PlayStation VR headset at GDC in San Francisco next month. The device is said to go head-to-head with Oculus Rift. It follows a PlayStation VR patent filed by Sony; just one in a long line of leaks and rumours surrounding the device.

Techradar claims that an “inside source” has verified the reveal, and added that they have tried the device behind closed doors.

The source added, “The quality and resolution are really, really good. People will definitely be impressed with what Sony’s built”.

So GDC 2014 begins on March 17. Imagine using this bit of kit with a stealthy game like Thief. It’ll be awesome. I really hope Sony can pull it off.

I look forward to see what they come up with, does'nt mean Id ever get anything like it,doesnt mean I would'nt either.
Regardless,it's still interesting to see how it turns out.

I could be the only gamer alive that isn't looking forward to this VR crap.

I had never really wanted VR until I've started reading a lot of reviews about Oculus Rift. Really, for VR to be considered VR, it at least needs to include head-tracking capability. Before now, VR in the home has lacked that feature. VR tech is with head-tracking is most feasible for home gaming. The most immersive experience would include 360 body-tracking or free movement, but that really wouldn't be ideal for the home due to price and space limitations.

This probably will end up just like 3D. A fun gimmick at first, but no one will adopt it and they'll pretend like it never happened. It's still cool to see tech like this though.

I know there are a number of gamers stoked over VR technology in general, but I'm not one of them. Plus only a small segment of games will actually make use of it (FPs) and basically replace the right analog stick for those games (or reassign it to something else).

There are games that would benefit greatly from VR technology. If Sony is working on VR I can see them doing better than they did with Move. Maybe building a franchise around VR to warrant making the technology.
