The Last of Us is Coming to PlayStation 4

I have to agree with Lendoflore.
The Last of Us is a great game. I liked playing it, can't deny that, but the replayability is indeed far too limited to warrant another purchase of a game I already own.
If however, you haven't played it I recommend the purchase on the PS4 when it comes out, if you like the genre it is well worth it.

This is some good news. I was planning on buying a PS3 since it's going to drop price and because I wanted to play The Last of Us so bad, but now that it's going to be released for the PS4 and with the additional DLC, then I might be getting the PS4 after all. I've heard a lot about this game, and I want to experience it first hand.

I would wait to if that was the case but sometimes ports with enhanced graphics are not better games. There were plenty of PS2 games upgraded to HD for the PS3 that were nowhere as good as the original game. Graphics matter but I the original could end up being better. I would wait and see what type of reviews TLOU gets for the PS4. There are a lot of other great exclusives for the PS4. I would get the Uncharted Series and Heavy Rain also.

I wonder if this will improve the graphics over the original. I didn't hear of any problems with visual lag on the PS3.

I never had a PS3 so I didn't get to partake of what sounded like an awesome game. Which I thought was a shame, but now I won't have to wallow in despair any longer! WOOT!

And just when I was starting to regret buying the platform, it's been kind of a let down in terms of the game catalog, but from what I understand the PS3 suffered from a pretty empty launch catalog as well. I doubt it's going to take a lot of time to get out more interesting games.

Now if only they could port Dark Souls 2 to the PS4 so I'd be able to play it. Are they planning on doing this with any other games? I really feel like I missed out on the PS3's best games.

Keep in mind the PS3 was extremely expensive and the majority of people bought them after several price breaks. The library was extremely limited but the main reason or t hat was the cell cpu as it took years for companies to really learn how to develop for it.

The PS4 I s more like a OC which wil likely mean it will get more games and more PC Ports. I just hope that it doesn't get a lot of fast ports that are not optimized for the PS4 specs.

The library is disappointing now but we got a true next gen game with Infamous:SS and we have a lot of releases that look really coming in 2014. I am waiting on watchdogs and the upcoming Arkham Batnan games ever know neither are exclusive to the PS4.

I will not be buying it.

What is the point? I already beat it on the PlayStation 3. Why would i pay another $60 for a game i already beat. I hate the fact that Sony is wasting time on old games instead of developing new ones.

with the lack of games on the market for the PlayStation 4 Why do they have time to develop an old game? No one is going to buy the same game twice.

Plenty of us havent played it at all so I for one probably would get it if it were to come on PS4.
And that I think would be the main target audience.Plus, rumor has it that it would have DLC included.

Im sure to there are many people who do have it on PS3 will still get PS4 version. For various reasons.

I for one 'may' get GTA V if it were to appear on PS4 even though I have it on PS3.

But you have a point in that they really should focus more on new PS4 titles, rather than 'rehashing' current PS3 ones.
Perhaps its only cause PS4 is in early days and they wanna get a few popular titles on PS4 as well.

I regret getting GTA on my PS3. The game looked good but a lot of missions were just not fun. I have not understood the appeal but hey taste is subjective.

I am curious though, are you saying you are willing to pay full price again for a game you already bought on the PS3?

I guess sony knows what they are doing. Lets not forget that these are just ports with upgraded graphics. The questions will be how these games play on the PS4. Some games loose their identity when they use enhanced graphics while others just don't control right. I feel like Naughty Dog spent many years getting TLOU to as close to perfect as possible. I seriously doubt it will surpass the PS3 version.

I still have two PS3s at the house so I can play TLOU AGAIN IF I want to. I am waiting on watchdogs and Arkham Knight now for the Ps4 and still playing Infamous: SS but not as much as I used to.

Yes,I wouldnt do it often though.
And 'full' price is relative. If I can get it cheap enough for eg.
So I may not get it on release, perhaps a little later for a price.

Well, it's unofficially official. The Last of Us: Remastered is coming.

Earlier today, they released this banner on the PS Store (but have since taken it down)

Same as Oberon said, plenty of people who own a PS4 may not have played this on the PS3. I'm a prime example. The numbers of those who have switched from Xbox to Playstation is outstanding, so there is huge market for this game.

Confirmed by Naughty Dog and announced:

Well, it’s no secret that we have been working night and day at the studio to bring The Last of Us to PS4.
We’re calling it The Last of Us Remastered.

Moving our efforts to the PS4 has allowed us to remaster an already phenomenal looking The Last of Us in 1080p with a list of upgrades including higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures, along with even more improvements. We love setting challenging technical hurdles for us when working on each game – and this is no different. We’ve been working hard on The Last of Us Remastered to release a next-gen evolution worthy of the 200+ Game of the Year awards, not to mention the acclaim and expectations of our fans. We will be revealing more detailed information about the upgrades for the PS4 version in the coming months.

Extra's for pre-orders too:

Ohhhhhh yeah,me too.
For those of us that have'nt played it on PS3 it should be extra good on PS4 :o

I'm not surprised since the last game sold very well, and I'm also curious to see how much difference they will be able to make in the graphics department. Also, hopefully, this would mean a better chance of a sequel for the fans of the game. I'm not one myself, to be honest, but I know it is fairly unique and I'm all for innovation and experimentation.

I'm also curious to see how much difference they will be able to make in the graphics department.

I mentioned previously about the difference in graphics for Tomb Raider on the PS3 and PS4.

I played TR on the 360, and at the time was pleasantly surprised by the graphics. Then I saw this video

Now, the graphics on The Last of Us, that I've seen are great, however with the PS4, and seeing the graphics for TR on the PS4 leads me to believe/hope that there will be a huge difference :)

Here is the way I look at games. The graphics are 2 points on a 10 point scale. The gameplay, story. controls, and fun factor make up 80% of the game. The graphics are 20% of the game. The last of us was the best looking game on the PS3 IMO so I can not justify $60 for a game I played through twice on the PS3. However, make a $20 upgrade and I will buy it on Day 1 especially if they make improvement to the controls.

If you are coming from the 360 then this is an absolute must buy but I would way for the price to get to $20 used or hope for a upgrade option if you have/had the game on the PS.

Also, is it confirmed that Naughty Dog is doing the upgrade or is it outsourced to another developer since it is essentially just a port with some enhancements?
