Controller range?

I have mine at 10-12 feet from the couch to the console, but I've read other users getting good reception at 20-25 feet. I'll try it later, but there's other factors that can go into killing that reception.
 
I have yet to test it out.

But i do know that the PlayStation 3's controller could control the system from any room in the house. That is crazy range. With that being said i am sure that the PlayStation 4 controller can do the same.I doubt Sony would make an inferior controller for their new system. I am sure that it has the same range.

What does it matter anyway. It is not like you are going to be that far away from the console when you play.

It's not a question of whether it matters or not, it's a question of knowing the limitations, it's very interesting from my point of view.
 
I got a good 50-70 feet away from the PS4 and was still able to control my games accurately. And that's going through about 7 rows of cubicles and stuff. So, the controller does have some great range on it.
 
I don't know in empiracle length, but it works throughout my room, so I can even play games while lying back in bed if I'm too lazy. It's the best thing in the world!
 
Considering the battery life sucks on the DS4, I wouldn't advise playing 70 ft though lol.
I haven't tested it myself either, but the controller does have quite some nice range on it. I was playing from my bathroom the other day. Granted my bathroom isn't that far, but it's nice taking a dump and playing BF4 at the same time ya know?
 
I have the PS4 since launch but never felt need to test this thing :p. I play around 15-20 feet away and it works perfectly. I think 25-30 feet distance wouldn't hurt much.

That's exactly what I was looking for :)
I was afraid it could start to have some input lag, I just don't have that sort of space in my house to try that out.

Even though Strykstar already mentioned why he wanted to know, you never know someone might want to play from their next door neighbor's house or something completely ridiculous to actually make use of that range.

...I've got nothing. It's not something I tested or would bother testing. I mean I'm not even bothering to play from the kitchen while sitting on the counter.

That's roughly the distance I've always played at. I've got my brother's PS4 for a few days so I'll test it in a bit for whatever reasons.

Because my controller seems to be connecting to another ps4 and my ps4 sometimes seems to be controlled by another controller. It's quite annoying. And I can't tell if that's the case or something is messed up. So just curious.
 
I landed here because I want to use one ps4 on multiple tvs throughout the house. Range of the controller is not that bizarre of a question guys. smh
 
I thought they had to be registered to a certain PS4 (by connecting it by USB). How is it controlling another PS4 or visa versa in another room?

I thought so to and am pretty sure it is. Imagine the nightmare if you were living in a dorm or an apartment and the neighbours had PS4's, they would be turning on all the time.

I have brought my PS4 to the second floor of my house and been able to interact. Sometimes will start it up and get the game loading. Will get a few things done while I wait just mashing the x button, when I come back, game is loaded and ready to play. So goes through walls and such fine.
 
I am splitting the hdmi feed to go to two separate televisions. One in living room and second in the basement. This way we can play as a family or send the kids downstairs to play if we have company. Remote works about 30 feet away through the next floor.
