The Walking Dead Season 2 for Vita FINALLY Released!

Well it's about time!! Not sure if anyone noticed but Season 2 of The Walking Dead is out for the Vita. I'm downloading it now and I'm sure I'll play through in one sit down (assuming I can keep the battery running) and I'll report back!

Yeah, it came out... this week? Or last week? I don't remember exactly, but very recently. It's pretty great that they managed to release it before the season ends. Hell, even before Episode 3 which is the half-point of the season!

The season is also fantastic so far. I've been playing it on PC since I played season 1 on PC (the performance on the console versions was just bad, it's better in season 2) and it's been great. Episode 2 made me think that there's a lot more variety to the story this time around, for reasons I won't spoil. It's been really damn solid so far.

Though, they didn't say anything about Wolf Among Us. I remember WAU being announced for Vita too. WAU is also great, though it feels like it's going in a more linear and less varied direction than The Walking Dead is. This is understandable, though, Wolf Among Us is a prequel to the Fables comics and features its protagonists. It doesn't have the same freedom that The Walking Dead does with its original cast.

Not a fan of the controls for season two on Vita. I think season one had the right idea with giving the player several different control options. The blend of touch and button controls in season two is a pain to use and, at times, unresponsive

Huh, they don't allow the player to choose their own control scheme on season two? That's an odd change.

Are all the episodes out already? (I think it's episodes they call it)
I was waiting until they all come out before buying it, so I can play through the whole thing in maybe a day or two instead of waiting a few months between each episode.

What's the game play like in these games ? I've heard a lot about them but never got around to actually playing either season 1 or 2.
I'm imagining something similar to an interactive cut scene, or am I way off ?

There is a little more to it than that, but you aren't too far off..

If The Walking Dead had come out on Vita from the very beginning I would have happily played it on that platform, but now all my save files are on the PS3. So unless I want to do everything again it is just too late for me to bother with the Vita version..

I couldn't find any option to change it. This season it's a mix of touch and button controls. I started to get used to it in episode 2, but I still prefer playing solely with physical buttons and I can't.

They're up to episode 2 so far, but episode 3 sounds like it will be coming out very soon.

That's kinda lame. I would prefer to just use the same controls as on the console/PC (with controller) versions.

I'll wait a bit more then, I think Season 1 was 6 episodes, right?
I loved the first one and I have no doubt I'll love this one, but the wait between episodes is a pain...

I personally love the wait. Waiting between episodes by reading others' theories, coming up with my own theories as to what will happen and so on. I understand why others don't like the wait, though.

Season 1 was 5 episodes + the optional extra 400 Days which got announced when they announced the Vita version.

So episode 3 is coming out next week now. All you guys playing have season passes right?

Yeah, coming this tuesday. Pretty hyped. I have season pass because that's the only way to buy on PC anyway, haha.

You can't buy the episodes individually on PC? I did not know that. Interesting choice..

Yeah. I don't know about Telltale's own store but at least on Steam I only see them selling the season as a whole. Same on GreenManGaming, only the whole season, and that one is a key for Telltale's store and not a Steam key.

I think it was the same for the first season on the PC too, only the full version is available, they just added the new episodes through patches.

I thought Episode 3 was pretty great, though I also kinda wished they had taken things slower so we got to interact with the characters more. I also wish this forum had spoiler tags! So, SPOILER WARNING/: the scene in which Carver forced Carlos to slap Sarah was horrible and then how he beat up Kenny later... goddamn... I was happy Kenny got his revenge. Those who didn't stay should make a backup save and rewind and stay when Kenny gets revenge on Carver, it's so damn brutal. In the end, I chopped Sarita's arm hoping to save her from infection, but thinking about it... I might have screwed up. Now we have a woman missing and arm and screaming in the middle of a herd, not to mention my weapon was already covered in zombie blood and the doctor had just died. But I just hope I helped her, I have no idea what will happen to Kenny if she turns, Kenny is still insane over Duck and Katjaa. /SPOILERS OVER

Overall, I thought it was a pretty dark and solid episode, it seems that things consistently get worse. It was not as powerful as Season 1's Episode 3, though, but it was good. Though I also feel that our group is kind of goalless at the moment, compared to the clear goals during the final episodes of Season 1, but we'll see what happens next episode. Now we play the waiting game...

Episode 3 of Season 1 had s lot of emotional moments, but I was also forced to try to fix a train for an hour. Overall that episode was mediocre in my books.

This episode though was goddamn great. But I 100% agree about not really having goals as a group right now.. It kind of seems like this episode could have been a great ending to the season. Oh well, I have faith in Telltale.

Heh, it's true about fixing the train. I think that's a difference between the seasons, Season 1 had more puzzles while Season 2 is faster paced with less puzzles. This also kind of makes things very odd, though. Look at how oddly fast they escaped Carver's.

But yeah, the main problem is the lack of a goal, I really hope they manage something with Ep4 and Ep5. Though, realistically, in real life our goal would be just survive too under such situations. Anyway, in Season 1 we had the clear goal of finding a boat and then the clear goal of saving Clem. Season 2 has felt aimless in comparison.
