Where to find a new PS4 Console Body

Are PS4's made out of Nintendium now?!

That's some build quality and I guess we know the machine can cope with extreme heat LOL!!

HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLES! The ps4 actually withstood a fire!?

*bow* Amazingly dony Sony *bow*

Now what I would do is just strip it of all the burnt parts and build a new custom case! Nothing too fancy, but you may as well build the first custom PS4 ever! :)

Great idea Wolfhyrr although you probably need to be quite handy with metals and plastic.

Then again how about a wooden case?! Now that would be cool!

A wooden case would be way too risky. If I put my PS4 in a wood case, it would burn within the first hour of me using it. You don't realize how hot those things get. I'll just wait for a modder to come out with a modded body.

Unfortunately, no. Sony still won't sell parts to me, even though I'm a manager at a Tech store. I'll just have to wait. I've been looking all over the interwebs. Still nothing.

Take a chance bro!

You know what I would do? I would reach out to the steampunk community, half of them are artisans and probably love games too! They work mostly in copper painted ceramic and bronze.

Im pretty sure that for a decent fee you could get one of them to build one for you, they love doing that kinda stuff, in ceramic, and plastic, you should have no problems with heating.

Imagine a steampunk PS4. you could actually sell it for double the price of a new ps4 xD. OR KEEP IT CAUSE AWESOMENESS

You know what? That's an awesome idea. But I honestly have NO IDEA where to start to get ahold of a steampunk. I really love the idea. A steampunk PS4. I may actually give it a try myself. I work in an IT shop, so I have access to all kinds of materials.

Lol wow, was the sony person surprised by this?

Yeah, he was. I gave him the hyperlink to the photo (posted on this site) and he was pretty surprised at how it looks, even though it still runs. I was playing Thief last night. Horrible game, by the way. It's considered a freeworld game, but it really isn't. Not like Fable or Fallout. I honestly am planning on returning Thief and just keeping the console for PS4 games that won't come out for Xbox One (die-hard Microsoft enthusiast - except for Windows 8). Plus I am thinking hard about steampunking the console, buying the cameras and steampunking them, and just coppertoning the controller. Just as Wolfhyrr sad.

Forgive my ignorance but what does steampunking a console mean?

It's pretty funny that it survived a fire and still plays fine. Are the fans still functioning? Also, agree on Thief sucking. Didn't really understand the hype. Rented it and didn't play more than 2 hours of it.

Steampunk is a genre/theme of science-fiction, which they mix steam machine era with futuristic kind of things.

Have you played bioshock infinite? thats steampunk, or if you've seen Full Metal Alchemist, the anime, that is also steampunk

ِِِِDude, I love steampunk! If you ever did this share us the picture!

I'll start on it this weekend. I'll post progress photos every once in a while.

Okay, so I've already said that I want to start steampunking the console. I'd like some input. I already know that I want to raise the top of the console a couple of inches to add a top side heat sink and upgraded cooling system. I also plan on running a bit of a mirror system so when the lights are on, they reflect up into the tube, giving it a nice glow from standby (orange) to booting (pulsing blue) to on (white). If you're wondering where the lights originate from, they're a little right of center in a recessed triangle. But what about everything else?
Keep in mind, this will be my first steampunk conversion, and I have access to literally everything through my IT shop. Nixie tubes, amp tubes, gears, lenses, motors, basically any computer, cell phone, and tablet part.
Any input would be great. And for those of you that do give input, I will gladly etch your PS4forum.com username or PSN ID into the side or bottom as contributors.

I would just keep checking online to see. Someone will offer it eventually, and it will be reasonably priced. Just make sure that you're dealing with a legit site...you know how those scammers are when it comes to electronics customers..geesh

I will probably steampunk it in a way that allows me to revert back to the original body style, just in case I want to switch it back. But for right now, I'll just steampunk it.

Still no luck there bro.

I stand by statement, customize steampunk it! I have no idea about design tho.... But I'd say just wing it, get someone IRL to help you out. Maybe on facebook?

I would try and build a custom water cooled setup. Might be hard to find water blocks tho. It would be a fun projects thats for sure.
