PS3 Lacking "Casual" Games?

The casual games are there, but very few get a good deal of attention. Like someone else said in the thread, you have to look for them.

As its been said by several posters here, there's no lack of casual games. Every console will have them, but not every console makes them a focus and that can make the console seem as it's either for "hardcore" players only or for "casuals"/"kids" (which I will admit, the Wii U gets a bad rap on, it's the only truly "everyone" console).

There are a lot of good indie casual games that don't require fast reflexes or other general gaming objectives. I don't think the Move is that great, but most of the games made with the Move are "casual" games. At this point in its life cycle, there have been a ton of games released. It shouldn't be too difficult to find some casual games.

I embrace our new more interesting hardcore gods. I've never really been into casual titles that much. Honestly though, I don't think there is any lack of casual titles. There are so many indie games that are really casual. There is also a whole system for more casual games. It's called the Wii U. Hehe. Other than that the main casual game base has shifted to mobile. Which makes a lot of sense.

I dont think the PS3 is lacking casual games at all. They probably have the BEST casual game and that's Little Big Planet.

Not to mention all the move games. PS3 has A LOT of casual games, maybe not as much as Wii, but still plenty.

I don't really see the lack of casual games as a bad thing, but that is just me. There will always be Little Big Planet though, the Ultimate casual game.

There are tons of casual games out. The Lego series seem to be great. LBP, especially with the user generated stuff, are highly accessible for all sorts. The nintendo can't be beaten in the area, but the PS3 is by no means lacking.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a mention for the PS3 edition of Minecraft yet. I don't think you could get a much more casual game than that, being a 'sandbox' game…! I bought it last Friday at the bargain price of £15 – brand new. It's one of those games I could quite happily play for months on end.

Little Big Planet and and Little Big Planet Racing have filled this gap for me this generation. There were definitely a lot less fun games for the PS3, with franchises like Crash Bandicoot missing, and I have to settle for the Wii mostly for casual and party games.

Play station has never been strong in casual sales but that's not really their market either. Ps is a system of brilliant and engaging games as well as a company that takes chance on new IPs. There are some games that people can jump into and be okay, but I feel like PS is an artistic platform and a great canvas for developers.

At times I really would like to have something that is more casual and not so involved, just to take a break from the more involved games. It can get so intense at times that I really just want to chill out with something mindless.

I don't think that the PS3 lacks casual games because I have played a few casual games on the PS3. The thing is though that most of the games that come out these days cater more to the hardcore gaming audience instead of the casual gaming audience. If you want casual games then you need to check out the Nintendo Wii U that is one console that has lots of casual titles.

I just don't go to my PS 3 for something to jump in and then jump out. You know what I mean? I have an iPhone , iPad or computer if I want to do that. The PS (or any console) has a big TV, a nice controller and an amazing ability to session for a good few hours.

There was a whole lot of casual games in the PS3 library. Not even counting the mass amounts of shovelware that is on every console.

Okay - what exactly is a "casual" game? Then on top of that - are there more apparently on the 360? Aren't "casual" games supposed to suck because "hardcore" gaming forever or something? I'm just asking because the term "casual" irritates me now.
