PS3 Update 4.60 Now Available,improves system stability

Oberon

, , The Enforcer, ,
Incase any of you have'nt turned on your PS3 for a few days you will notice system update v4.60 is available and a mandatory update to the PS3.
The usual 'Improves system stability' info is given.

However, what has also been recently released by those in the PS3 hacking scene is that 'Cobra ODE' is not working anymore with this update.
This means that a lot of people cannot play their backups and/or pirated games anymore.
Which should be a good thing ofcourse since we don't condone Playstation piracy on this forum.

Ah ok. I didn't get a notification for an update but I'll be sure to download the new update.

This couldn't have come at a better time for me. My OS was starting to crap out (would hang on startup after the warning notice, loading icons in the XMB would take ~30 seconds minimum, it would hang on the black screen after starting up a game for an extended amount of time, controller would lose sync upon turning off the console, etc) and this brought it back to almost normal. Still takes longer than before the OS went funky but much improved.

I think it might have caused some problems and they removed it?

I've got an issue where my PS3 friends list is missing people but they're all on my PS4. The issue is, its people I've gamed with only on the PS3 and have gamed with somewhat recently.

Dunno,my PS3 has been OK since the install.
Though I have read that some people have had probs with the update, gets to a certain % then fails.Or reboots their console.

Well I've encountered problems that I've only noticed after the install.

^^^ same..

"system" problems i've had since the patch are

can't get to the PSstore regularly ( IMo about 50% of the time when i click on the logo i just get blank screen )
can't get the "what's new feed to come up" ie the white circle kept spinning.
can't play some SP games that are linked to online leaderboards.
Had one moment of the system could read the disc it had in but couldn't play it. ( this only happened once and i turned it off / on and worked perfectly again )

All in all system things don't seem to be running as smoothly as they were before the patch.

A lot of the above give me the problem is " can't connect to the PSN network " so it knows it's doing what it should but can't do it.

When i turn my XB1, having same internet at same time, i don't get any issues like this.

I get issues where my friends list doesn't load everyone, all these people are PS3 only games that I added before my list went over 100 people.

I really wish PSN would notify us when these updates come out instead of making me go out and look for them myself. Not to mention I haven't noticed any differences with the past few updates, they are just a waste of time for me. What happen to the good old days when systems and games were flawless when they were released. I realize things are a bit more complicated these days, but selling a product that is not finished should be a crime.

I wish they would say ahead of time so I can plan around them. Nothing is more frustrating to me when I look to get a quick game in before I have to do something and I can't because I have to wait for the damn update. If I knew ahead of time, I'd boot it up, start the update then take a crap or something while it downloads and installs.

Ditto! It really is annoying to start up the blasted thing and be met with a sudden update. Most of the time, the updates are copmletely pointless, too...

Not everything in the PS3 Hacking scene is about piracy, as someone from the PS3 Scene, i can say that i don't care about playing pirated games and the only time i really used backups, is when i wanted to mod(offline) games like Dead Rising 2, i enjoyed the homemade games that are playable on a hacked PS3.
Even though I'm from the PS3 hacking scene, i am extremely glad that these ODDE's are blocked, i have always and will always be against ODDE's and any type of piracy reDRM devices, something which managed to get me a huge amount of hate in the PS3 scene, but i stand by my principles and the hate means nothing.

Sorry to take this thread off topic.but Mr G I have to say your not hated.and you have always been a man of your word.i take my hat off to you.and will always respect the things I have witnessed you do.good luck mate.
