Ouya

Does anyone own and Ouya? My brother owns one and he goes wild about it. Of course he uses it to emulate everything legacy. Be it NES, SNES, SEGA, PSONE, N64, SATURN, GAMECUBE, etc.

I also heard that Ouya people were kicked out from E3 last year. Do you think it is because of their open source emulate everything you want policy?

Absolutely. People understand that certain games are hard to find and the cost of those games when you do find them is incredible; in such cases, emulation is often accepted. In 90% of other cases, just go buy the game so that you promote, within yourself, healthy buying habits that will eventually be good for developers and the gaming community as a whole. Ouya at E3 is bad for business and somewhat insulting.

I do not remember the story, but I thought the cops were called on them...?

I believe so. The cops got involved for some reason. They went to a park near E3 and promoted Ouya there. I'm not aware of the full story though.

From what I know it's a neat little android box..
It'd make a neat little emulation box and that's it though..

From what I've heard and seen, Ouya isn't very good. I thought it's already dead since it's been a while since I've heard about it. The last time I saw it it only ran Android games, I didn't know it could also emulate old classic games.

More people use it to emulate than to acutally play native Ouya games. It runs any android game natively as well.

The Ouya I'm not so hot on, I figure my Android phone can do whatever the Ouya does anyway. But as for the console itself, well I think it was well off dead in the waters for sometime due to it's sheer lackluster value. I heard the very people that backed it up end up giving the Ouya away when they got theirs. As far as I know, the console isn't doing as well as the devs hoped. But if they can go further than just emulating old games and go underground and emulate current console games I would gladly pay $500 for that.

One of the main developers mentioned on their webiste that the next Ouya console or upgrade would use Tegra 4 GPU. This could mean the possibility of emulating everything! Including PC games as well. We have to wait and see, I guess. I'm hoping that happens, actually. I think it would be pretty cool and kickass!!

My android phone can emulate older 8-16 bit consoles up to N64 and PS1 games, and I can link it to my TV to play on AND use my PS3 DS3 controller too for them. :Onya

I have an ouya, and I like it a lot. I use it as both a media center as well as, of course, a gaming console. I don't use it as an emulator, but I believe Solarees is incorrect in saying that it emulates the Saturn and Gamecube. If it does it probably has major slowdowns and issues. On the other hand, it does emulate both the Dreamcast and the PSP which weren't mentioned.

As far as the E3 thing, well, OUYA Inc. has done a number of the things that range from mildly embarassing to injure-yourself-facepalming. The E3 thing was just the one that made the most headlines.

Really? Tegra 4? Cool! If that's true I would definitely, 100% throw my money on them. Well of course if the Ouya can do more than just the usual Android games and old school emulation. But still, I have my hopes high on this one.

Nope, I don't own one and not even planning on buying one in near future unless they so something so riveting that I will have to by one. For now, it's not going to happne.

It was already made, actually. However only in China.

And it doesn't support Google Play. We have to wait for the actual Ouya team to make the Tegra 4 upgrade. This pretty awesome,eh?

I never thought about the possibility of them getting booted due to emulation, but I suppose it's likely now that you've pointed it out. I honestly would prefer to just use a PC or at least a cheap tablet to emulate, but I can see how some would prefer OUYA. I'd really like for them to succeed and make more versions of their consoles because I find them very interesting.
