Crash Bandicoot

Crash Bandicoot! How nostalgic, right?

I wonder what happened to this series? Why did it disappear? It was going strong as Sony's Mario. It was Sony's mascot pretty much. Then it just vanished!?

Yeah... I am anticipating a Crash PS4 announcement. I mean, he was in the PS4 commercial that was released as an advertisement for the console's launch.

Naughty Dog used to have a policy of one game series per console generation. PSX was Crash, PS2 was Jak and Daxter, PS3 was Uncharted and Last of Us (though LoU was initially supposed to be one game. Who knows now). Seems now they are doing a reversal of that policy. On the fence about this change in policy but then again, it would be nice to see a new Crash game and the new Uncharted is gonna be hella good :)

To be fair though a lot of Naughty Dog employees have jumped ship. I am speculating it is because of Uncharted 4 and the stunted creativity that comes with working on a franchise for so long, milking it for all its worth, and negating long-lasting company ethics.

Me and my wife actually replayed the original Crash trilogy in the past year or so, they are still fun.

I would love to see a new Crash game. But it shouldn't be made by Naughty Dog. It would be a waste of their potential right now. I'm also pretty sure the rights to Crash aren't under the Sony umbrella. The last few games weren't even Sony exclusive..

Well unfortunately Activision owns the rights to it now so unless Sony spend massive bucks, it ain't coming back or it will but as a multi plat which I would hate. If it does come back I agree that another studio should deal with it, much like the LPB3 situation. Naughty Dog needs to move on and be more creative, another studio will do CB the justice it needs.

Oh yeah I remember this game it was one game that I really think was a lot of fun to play. The game was really color and really enjoyable. Just sitting and thinking about it is bringing back the memories of the PS1. I really think when the PS1 had been released that a new era of gaming had arrived. I really hope that it would come back on the scene.

That's quite interesting, I did not know about that policy at all, it all makes sense though. I am anticipating a Crash game. I don't know but I always associate Crash as PS mascot of sort.

That does not mean Crash is gone forever though. Why do you think that would be a waste of their potential? I'm sure there is a market for Crash as it has a big fan following. Don't you think so?

It would absolutely be a waste of Naughty Dog's potential to make another Crash Bandicoot game. They've grown too much as a studio. Look at Uncharted or Last of Us. These are the kind of games they make now. Going back to a platformer starring an orange dog thing is a waste. They are capable of so much more. Plus since Sony doesn't own Crash they couldn't work on it without throwing bags of money to Activision(I think).

I would love to see another Crash, but other studios are better for the job right now.

The goods is that Activation and Sony are working closely on Destiny--at least in regards to marketing. Here is hoping that they develop some sort of relationship and get a new Crash rolling.

Well that is a positive thing. I do want Sony to gather some sort of partnership with a third party like Ubisoft or Activation to develop an exclusive title much like how Microsoft is in bed with EA at the moment.

Crash bandicoot was so cool. It was my favourite ps2 and ps1 game. I hope they give it an update for the ps4. That would be swell.

What studio worked on the new Spyro games? Would it be possible for that studio to work on a Crash game? I find this confusing as I thought Sony owned Crash.

This was the only game I could play with my wife at PS2 days.

Hope it will be on PS4 with new graphics...

I'm pretty sure the original Crash Bandicoot was the first game I ever played on the Playstation (if it wasn't, it was the second). What a lift in terms of graphics/effects that was above the likes of Sonic that I was used to playing on my Sega Megadrive. I remember being blown away by it.

I played and loved the first three – but I lost interest after that as it seemed to go too far away from it's roots for me. I think I done the first one with a friend of mine and I just remember us laughing for about two thirds of the game… Happy days…

Would I want a re-make for the PS4? Hmmm…I'm split on this. In this day and age where developers and producers seem to put in little effort or thought, I suspect a re-make would be completely ruined. No doubt it would be turned into yet another FPS adaption of some sort (like Resident Evil's latest effort), lost in the vast sea of FPS titles…

Gameplay for me will always come above graphics. As I keep on saying, it's certainly nice to have fancy graphics but it's not the 'be all and end all'. Personally, it could have great graphics but the game itself could be absolute pants (storyline/quality of the controls/puzzles e.t.c). Some of my favourite games still to this day come from the turn of the century.

Whoever's bright idea it was to sell the crash bandicoot franchise should be fired.. It was a fantastic series that should have stayed with naughty dog and sony..

On those days she was pregnant and Crash was the game she like most. She liked many games was Crash was the only one we can play eith a lot of fun.

Now I am playing with my daughter, my wife has no interest anymore :)
