Phil Fish is pissing people off again

So it looks like Phil Fish is pissing people off again.

I know a lot of gamers don't like his attitude, but I personally don't mind him. I find a lot of gamers online are just terrible to interact with. I can't imagine having to deal with them as much as he does, and I feel like he just says what a lot of people must think.

So, what do you guys all think of him?

Personally Phil Fish is quite hung up on the way the world of video games development works and he's kind of not helped his situation with comments such as 'Youtubers should pay royalty fees to developers' and how every gamer who asks for a squeal is over entitled and I think many devs do think about this but for the sake of marketing and coming off as an approachable person rather than a bit of a douche they put that to one side of focus on what they've made.

Personally I don't understand why he's going on this crusade. Does anyone know? I only personally heard of him about a month ago in early July. So other than him being the developer of Fez, I have no idea why he's so offensive towards gamers and make above statements.

Phil fish is an ass who calls anyone who doesn't agree with him "entitled" or "an asshole". I can imagine he didn't get along too well in high school. I won't touch fez ever. I refuse. That man slings around insults like they mean nothing and he acts like his gods fucking gift to earth. If anyone is acting "entitled" it's him and his attitude.

That video was surprisingly insightful. I've never really spent a great deal of time thinking or talking about him, and what I know of him is mostly from skimmed articles recounting his most recent outrages. I generally try to be pretty careful with my opinions and biases, and I think I do a pretty good job most of the time, but perhaps I need to be more cautious when it comes to gaming. So many of sources for news are biased and built around grabbing page views it's easy to make knee-jerk assumptions, either with or against the majority.

That being said, I don't really feel sorry for the guy. When you're in the public eye that can be great, but it can also be a constricting. You can't act in the same way you would when you were a forum moderator. The CEO of Sony doesn't respond to angry xbox fans on twitter by telling them to fuck off. Bill Gates doesn't get in flame wars with Apple. You rise above it. If the guy can't see a criticism of himself, however unfounded, without flying into an angry rant, then maybe he should stay behind the scenes.

As for Fez, I still haven't played it, but probably will soon. I don't judge art by the artists. I enjoy Roman Polanski and Woody Allen movies and a lot of my favorite music was made by pretty shitty people.

Just sat through the whole video. I feel like I learned a lot of little bits I didn't know before.

Overall my opinion of him didn't change. He was himself before people started caring about what be said, and continued being himself online afterward. There was just a point where it became socially unacceptable, and that isn't nessesarily his fault.

I do think ultimately it doesn't matter though, but the same could be said about anything on this forum.
