GTA V on PS4 : My opinion

Oberon

, , The Enforcer, ,
If you never had GTA V on PS3 then Im sure you will love it.
But for me,honestly Im a tad disappointed.
Perhaps I was just expecting to much.

I was looking forward to the 1st person view but honestly,I think its still easily more playable in 3rd person, just suits this game.
So when I play,I usually stick with that.
As has been said, using the DS4's speaker for phone calls and police radio chatter is a cool addition, works well.

But...its feels the same (ofcourse),it moves the same and the graphics..yes,obviously better than PS3,distance is better and it looks more defined and solid but it does'nt 'blow me away' at all.
I can say if you had or still have the PS3 version, not sure its necessary to upgrade, perhaps only if you are a GTA nut and just gotta have it,or if you have plenty of money to throw around.
Again though,maybe I was just expecting more,dunno.

Having said that GTA V is a great fun game for sure but again,if you havent had it,GET IT! If you have had it,Im not sure you need to upgrade.

Ah sorry to hear you were a tad disappointed. Yeah as much as I would love the PS4 version, I'm glad I'm holding off. Aside from better graphics, it doesn't seem like there is much reason to upgrade. The First-Person mode never really interested me as GTA has always been more appealing as it is - third-person.

After playing a bit more I can appreciate the graphics a bit more too, look down at the pavement for eg and you see patterns, textures you didnt see before.
Sometimes it can look really fantastic, other times just excellent..lol
But as I said, its still just GTA V,again really.

I envy the people that are getting this for the first time on PS4,they will love it.
But I was the same with The Last of Us on PS4,never had the PS3 version so thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am playing through the campaign again, but Im in no rush this time, and Ill do more side stuff this time round too,so its gonna take me a while this time.
Besides, liking CoD AW more now so am playing that a fair bit now.Still havent finished the SP campaign on that yet either.
Not to mention Metro Redux,Im only about a 3rd of the way through 2033 then dropped it when AW came out....how do some people find the time to play multiple games at once? I dunno.

That was the problem I had with GTA5 on the ps3. COD Ghosts came out in November of 2013, and I literally never played GTA5 again after that. I then got a PS4, and a new game for it just about every month.

I think I will pick up GTA5 on PS4 eventually, but I have far too many games to play right now.

I agree Oberon. I basically pre ordered it because out of the 3 games I was looking at GTAV was the only one that I figured would work properly on release day( Isn't that a sad statement ). Nothing seemed overly impressive until I walked into the boys room and seen him playing on the PS3. Side by side you can notice the difference big time. Still, it is the same game. I finished the story twice on the PS3 and look forward to doing it again on the PS4. I think if it had originally been released in 1st person it may be easier to play in now but with countless hours in 3rd person I am finding it harder in 1st person.

My brain cant handle multiple game stories at once, let alone finding the time to do it! lol. I need to play a story to completion or trade the game in before I can get immersed into something else.

I'm handling the first person on foot but in the car is a bit woozy. If I could change the FOV of the in-car camera that I think it would be much better. I don't understand why I can change the FOV of on foot but not in car. I like how they implemented a standard FPS control scheme for the first person. Makes it feel familiar to an extent with clicking L3 to sprint, etc..

What is FOV?

Field Of View. A wider field of view while driving a car would make it less herky jerky. As it is now, it's too zoomed in on the wheel.
I know what you mean. One thing I have noticed is when you should be hitting the passenger side you don't. It's like 1/4 of the car is missing. Still a lot of fun though

I have been enjoying the upgrades to the game myself. First person view is awesome fun, makes the game a whole different experience even doing stupid stuff like beating up civilians with the various melee weapons. I've been quite impressed with the level of detail they added all around, not just in the graphics but the content like plants, animals, new radio songs and commercials, new character options(makeup, chest hair, etc), cars, weapons, missions, the list goes on and on. They fixed a lot of little things and the gameplay feels a lot smoother overall. I could see how people could be disappointed if they already played a ton of the previous version, but if you take the time to notice all the details, it is still a great update to the game.

I'm streaming a bit of first person story mode at the moment. Wife will ineveitbaly shout for dinner but I may restream later on as well. Twitch.tv channel: zer0ryd3r

I have GTA V for PS3 and bought it for PS4 now. Its been so long since playing it on the PS3 that I don't notice any graphic improvements. I have seen the youtube comparison videos so I do know its there. I am going to throw on the PS3 version sometime and see how startling the difference is. I do love this game, great characters, MASSIVE world, pretty much endless fun if your into chaos and destruction. This will be my 4th time doing the story mode and I still love it.

Well, I gave in and bought it. I forgot that you could carry your online profile over. Glad I got to keep my 8 Mill from PS3. I don't even remember playing it that much, but apparently I did lol.

First person mode just feels wrong in this game. It's fun, but I feel like its only really useful when shooting.

I tried the first person mode and did not like it, especially for driving.

I must admit I had it on PS3 but only played a little as I had it set up in the living room so couldnt play it all the time.
Im still thinking about buying it on the PS4. Ive never completed a GTA game hopefully this will be my first

I only use first person when walking. It's nice that you can change your controls in first person to match a modern day fps. I jus found out that if you click r3 you can change from the reticle to staring down the sights. Awesome!! I mostly drive in first person as well, great fun once you get used to it. Especially on the jetskis!! It's also easier for me to fire my weapon in the car from first person. I like doing the stupid human trick of middle fingers on the triggers and index on the bumpers to gas/brake/aim/shoot all at the same time!! It's a
great once you figure it out. I do third person driving when the vehicle is hard to see out or its a really bumpy ride. Good for cheking out your g ride as well.
