I borrowed MGSV off a friend and it's damn good

I never thought I'd get a shooter besides Wolfenstein, but MGSV is an excellent game. There's free roaming, stealth and strategy. The only downside so far is the stupid one hour intro. Apart from that it rocks. For those casually interested, MGSV is third-person and it's based in Afghanistan during the 1970s/1980s, around the time of the CIA proxy war. The player is largely independent of politics and it seems that the main enemy is paranormal/supernatural. There's a lot of stuff to gradually unlock: vehicles, weapons, weapon upgrades. Really cool as I'm a fan of strategy and long-term planning.

I agree. Unlocking things will continue for the whole game, untill you reach a level of weapons and equipements that allows to face all missions again, in different ways, not only in stealth mode. I think that the conceipt of this game is really innovative, which gives to it a wide longevity

A free-roaming 3rd person shooter... what are the odds I wish I had played Rainbow 6 and other tactical shooters back in the day but I was too obsessed with Halo. Now the new tactical shooters are multiplayer-only, as far as I can tell. I had Brute Force on Xbox (2003) it's a shame that never had a new release.

I find that MGSV is more playable than GTAV - in GTA, characters spend too much time engaging in American banter nonsense, and most of the missions are boring, it takes too long to set up a heist, or to arm all your characters. MGSV takes you straight to the action and you can deploy anything, anywhere, any time. A game doesn't have to be realistic to be fun (I'm thinking of cargo fulton extractions).
