PS4′s pre-orders outstrip those of PS2 and PS3

Well it's cheaper, and there are a new generation of gamers who have only ever experienced the ps3. I mean it has been 8 years. This, compiled with the modern day of more money. Better features etc, its not surprising.

I wonder if there will be any PS4's available to purchase in the weeks after release. A little worried I'll have to wait till 2014 to get my hands on one.

It's not really all that surprising because preorders weren't really that big of a thing when the PS2 came out and they were only starting to become a thing with the PS3. But still I suppose that congratulations are in order. But then let us not forget that quantity =! quality, at the moment we can only praise their marketing team, when the actual console will be released that's when we can judge how good it is.

I don't think there will be any available. They have just stated that PS4 is selling well beyond their expectations. So expect shortages.

Well this comes as no surprise. Consoles are on an all time high and are only growing even more.

And especially since this generation has a very very appealing entry price point people are even more willing to buy them without thinking much.

I thought Sony learned their lesson on stock issues. Just a few months ago, a majority of people guaranteed that there will be enough PS4's on launch date for everyone that wants one. Now, I'm a bit scared to agree with it, as it my percentage dropped from 100% to 30%. PS4 is also a lot better than the previous consoles, a great upgrade from the PS3 in my opinion.

It deserves to have really its features are way above the xbox if i'm being honest i think the only thing which is good about the xbox is the games on it there so much better.

I guess there's more gamers and pseudo-gamers out there nowadays, so it makes sense. I mean, gaming is "cool" now, not just "nerdy" or whatever. So yeah, makes sense to me.

It's to be expected, as Sony has made some great decisions when it comes to the PlayStation 4. From the hardware and software, to of course the great price, it's easy to see why the system is in such high demand. I can definitely see Sony taking the console lead after the PlayStation 4 is released in November.

This is not a big deal. There are more video gamers compared to eight years ago and a lot more people alive. I'd like to see how the pre-order numbers compare to xbox one pre-order numbers. Most of my video game amigos have pre-ordered either one or the other. I am so excited for PS4's launch. I'm curious as to what the pre-order numbers look like for the alleged 33 games that are to be available at launch.

Frankly, i'm not surprised that a lot of people preordered. The price is affordable for many people today. I remember my parents wouldn't even buy me a gameboy at first since they thought of it as too expensive. With the new and updated graphics, i'm pretty sure that drew non-gaming people to buy the next-gen consoles.

Their decision to price it lower certainly helped, I'm sure. I know it's what stopped me from buying the PS3 when it was launched. Also, not to mention that their competition screwed up at the same time so the fact that they are able to capitalize on this is not surprising to me at all.

Did anyone expect otherwise? I didn't. This is how things should go. More people are alive today than when the previous two consoles were released. There are more gamers as each year goes by. I would be disappointed the pre-orders did not surpass those of the previous two consoles.

I think that when you see what the competition is bringing to the table in Microsoft and Nintendo it is not hard to see why the PS4 has a ton of pre-orders already. Sony has really got a good hold of the video game console market which began with the PS1 and I do not see it slowing down unless they go the way of Sega and that is highly doubtful at this junction. The PS4 will be in my opinion the best home console ever released that can do a lot more than just play video games but more off a multi-media player.

Not really surprising as it has been a long time since a new console has been launched. Also the features are exceptionally good. Combined with the hype and all the talk I have heard now it really is not surprising as I know that most Xbox gamer's are going to be making the switch to the PS4.

It doesn't surprise me that the pre-orders outstrip those of the previous installments. I mean you have to think about the anticipation behind the Playstation 4. It was so great because of how quick it snuck up on us.
