33 games in 2013; 180 in development for the PS4

Impressive numbers, especially in 2013. The year is almost over, and they're already launching 33 games, half of them releasing on launch date? All the titles are fantastic too, mostly huge franchises like CoD, NBA, and so on. Sony also revealed that there are over 180 games in development for the PS4, looking forward to more details on what kinds of games there are; I'm sure some of them are indies though.

Sony has revealed that PlayStation 4 will receive 33 games (a combination of retail games with PSN-only downloadable titles) between the console’s launch in November and the end of the calendar year. Sony has also revealed that “more than 180 PS4 titles [are] in development.”

Yeah that is definitely a great launch line up, especially when compared to the competition. What's even better is that there are so many games in development for the system as well. Like I said, Sony did a great job of putting Mark Cerny in charge of the PlayStation 4, as he and his team have made so many great decisions in regards to the PlayStation 4.

That's a fair lot of games, but I'm guessing most of them are either indies or multiplatform games. Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you, but yeah.

Impressive stuff. Would love to know how many of these games are PS Exclusive :)

Same here! Bought a year of PS Plus in preparation for the PS4. Already loving the free games and the timed trials. I've seen a couple PS Exclusives that look absolutely amazing and I am so stoked for this console.

Sounds really good are these for ps3 or ps4? can't wait to see some of them the game i'm most looking forward to is GTA 100% it has some of the best features a gta has ever had.

I wonder how many are genuine blockbuster titles or exclusives like Carl said. I rule most of the indie ones out sadly.

I would say that more than 50% of those are indies, which is not a bad thing, but where are the Sony exclusive IPs when they are needed? Gather some old members, let them create some new game for a old series, instant nostalgia buy!

Looks like some of them are going to be ports, as well. I saw Flower on that list. I wonder if it's a straight port, or if it's been graphically updated.

Hmm is it true that the Xbox One has a lot more exclusives at launch? COD and NBA is nice but other consoles have those games too. Aren't there a few games available at launch that would make you proud to own a PS 4 to make your Xbox and Wii owning friends envious? Well, KillZone is there, as well as Driveclub. What else?

My goodness! That's insane man. I don't think I will be playing even a half of these games. That's a bit too overwhelming to say the least.

I really really REALLY wish that one of those 180 games is Uncharted 4.

I just can't wait for that game, Naughty Dogs are the best.

But till then these really are impressive numbers. 33 games in 1.5 months! Amazing.

I'm willing to bet most of them are cross-platform, cross-gen games (look at the launch line-up, over half of the titles are also for the PS3). I'd also be willing to wager the PSN ones will be mainly ports, HD rereleases, or additions to the classics library.

Whenever the the promotion for Quantity comes up, the follow-up question is always Quality, and vice-versa.

Those numbers are hard to believe. Let's see them walk the walk. We know they can talk the talk. Remember when N64 was released and they had like two launch titles? That is hilarious in comparison. I think those titles were Mario 64 and Pilot Wings.

Out of the 33 that they plan to have available at launch, how many do you plan on purchasing? I know for sure that I will be getting Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. I'm not sure that I will buy any others on the day of the launch. There are only so many hours in a day.

I'm not too sure about the exclusive games for the PS4, i'm just hoping the ones that do release are good quality because i'm looking forward to hours of gametime!

I'd wait on further announcements and reveals before making a fuss - having big numbers thrown around may impress the average gamer or uninformed consumer who doesn't know better, but I am sold on quality, not quantity. Hopefully there will be an abundance of the former in addition to the latter.

That is really exciting to hear. It makes investing in the PS4 seem worth it for sure. I am sure a lot of those will be crap, just based on the numbers. Even if only 10% of those are fun to play, you would have a decent game collection for the PS4 by the end of next year. That give me a lot more reasons to make the upgrade to the new system, although I will likely have to wait to be able to get a system since they are pre-selling out.

Well, I guess PS4 owners won't be left wanting for games, eh? It's going to be kind of hectic to keep up with all the releases though.
