A dilemma

Looking at all the great games currently on the 3DS and the new ones coming, I really, really want one. BUT there is a new one coming -as of right now they've haven't announced a USA release date, I wish they would or something. I'm stuck deciding to just go ahead and buy one, or wait and see if they're bringing it to the states.

Sure I could import one, but its Nintendo which means it'll be region locked (ie. Have to buy Japanese Nintendo Network cards to buy games). And I think that's way too much trouble.

Then again both my kids have one and my wife has 3 or so, I could just steal one of theirs I suppose LOL BUT I want my own :P

I could buy one now, then trade it in towards the NEW version if it arrives here in the states. What would you fellers do in my position?

I would just wait for the New one to be released in the west and get that, personally. Though getting an old one and selling it when New comes out is also a possibility, I think waiting might be better in the long run...

That is, unless you really gotta play games NOW, that is. Like that there Smash Bros, huh?

I already have a 3DS, but I've been debating buying a new one, and Nintendo has handled this fall in NA horribly.

There are a lot of awesome collectable 3DS systems out this fall. 2 Smash Bros ones, the Nes one, the Persona Q one. I really want to buy one, but I know the new 3DS is just around the corner, so I can't justify it...

I think I would buy the games I want at the moment and borrow the DS from your family when they're not using it. Then when the new 3DS comes out you get it for yourself. If you didn't have a 3DS at all I would get one now, but since you have a good amount of them I feel like you'd be better off holding off for a while.

What? Horribly? Smash 3ds, Ruby and Emerald Remakes, Persona Q. I could list more but.. seriously? This fall is looking nice if anything...

I believe I'll do that. I mean my wife has several, chances are she'll import the new one as she's fluent in Japanese. I can check out the new one then. Can't believe I didn't think of that.

I do want Smash Bros ;) and try out maybe a Pokemon game lol Zelda, Star Fox. Is there a Metroid 3DS game? If so i'll get that, if not...why the hell not?

The games are great. I'm talking about 3DS systems themselves. They are releasing a bunch of collectable 3DS XLs when we all know the new 3DS is just around the corner.

That's ONE of the points I am talking about -my wife said they'll probably announce when the NEW 3DS is coming to the USA after all these collectible 3DS' are on shelves for a week or so

Nice! Just be careful when playing Smash Bros, there have been a lot of cases of broken analog sticks because of it. Apparently people get too into it, do a smash attack and tear it right off.
As long as we're talking about games I'll recommend picking up Fire Emblem Awakening if you're into strategy games. It's one of the best games out for the system.

Wait. Wait. Wait. I love my 3DS to death. Seriously, I protect it like it is a baby.

But just wait.

They need to wait longer than that I think. At this point I don't see why they'd even give us a date this year. All that would do is slow down Christmas season sales..

Yeah, these people are crazy! Just gotta keep in mind the 3DS is not made to take the same punishment that a Gamecube controller does. This would happen less if Smash let us set quick smashes to the Dpad but it doesn't because taunts are more important, I guess?

Anyway, I found the collectible 3DS releases to be very silly considering the upcoming New 3DS. It wouldn't be a problem if the New 3DS wasn't announced as having exclusives, though, but the fact that there will be exclusives to it that the 3DS can't handle means that waiting is just better...

Yeah, mapping the smash attacks to the d-pad would mitigate the problem quite a bit. Then again, the kind of person that breaks an analog like this is the kind that likes to charge up their smash attacks and have full control over them, so who knows if that's a good fix. I played the demo and I must admit that I was holding myself back to take care of the analog. Smash Bros matches can get very intense, and I don't know how I would play once the game is out and online is enabled. I've chosen to wait for the Wii U version just because of this, either way, it's going to look better and have more options anyway.

The master -errrr my wife said I should wait lol of course, she spends money like she's a Dr. and I'm a lowly chef eeking out 1/10th of that she makes.

Anyway; guess I'll wait and see what the announcement concerning dropping the NEW 3DS in the USA is. In the mean time I'll be playing Diablo III so if anyone plays and wants to add me my PSN name is over there....under my forum name.
