About Sony's MP3, CD, DLNA support for PS4

From the Ultimate FAQ:

Will I be able to play MP3s on PS4?
No*.

Can I listen to audio CDs using PS4?
No, PS4 does not support audio CDs.

Will PS4 support media servers or DLNA support in order to stream videos or movies from a home PC?
The PS4 system does not support client functionality* for media servers.

Very curious move by Sony. I often stream MP3's to my PS3 or 360. I also find TVersity a god send for watching home movies over the network. Even audio CD support is a little crazy. I guess I wont be able to rip those MP3's for my WWE themes anymore :(

At launch no,but there will be an update later that will change this to allow it. Their 2nd update.

Oh, great!
I was actually getting worried, because that would be a lost feature, and that's never good, a lot of people was using it and removing it would not be a clever action.
Glad you cleared this out!

Thanks for clearing that up, Oberon. I was confused as to why they wouldn't support MP3s myself, as that seemed kind of like a standard. Good to know this is only temporary, and I was glad to read that they plan on supporting external hard drives soon as well, both of which's unavailability I was baffled by upon reading at first. Why are they temporarily making it unavailable, though? Is it just because they are in a hurry to release the consoles?

Ah,not sure on that one,Im sure it said they were also not able to confirm this, see here:

We were still unable to confirm future external hard drive support for media or game data would be supported later on.

Yeah you'll have to wait for updates, which is yet another reason I may wait for a while before I grab a 4.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pumped, I just don't trust first gen anything anymore. But I did my research and agree, DLNA is planned for future updates. It would have been a deal breaker for me if it weren't.

It's not even a deal breaker for me, I don't actually care this much about these features, but seriously... it's worrying that they're talking about a second firmware update before the console is even released!

Nope, don't mind at all. I wonder if legacy headset means bluetooth? Anyway, it seems so odd that both Sony and MS have taken things away on to have to re add them. Also, it looks like this could hit 2014? The one advantage I thought Sony has is that they seemed to have it all together. I really hope this source is accurate, the FAQ is the same.

I think, too, it will be added in a future update. It was already possible with the PS3 so I do not see there would be a regression.
Music Unlimited should enlarge with the PS4 by Sony. Anyway, It's been a long time we forgot our CDs. Then the rete come in updated.

I'm a little worried about the MP3 support, but I hope that the community easily will manifest.

Just wait... :)
