Can't go wrong with free-to-play games right? Well get ready because Ace Combat: Infinity is coming exclusively to the PSN Store September 25th. And what's more, the game will be free-to-play! Here is the debut full length trailer:

”Set in a precise near future world and including beloved elements like super weapons and hyper-real visuals, the game will offer a brand new story campaign. In the new co-op multiplayer, skilled aces will form two teams of up to four players and compete to inflict the most damage on a common enemy.”

Should be good!

I'm happy that a new Ace Combat is on the way. But after hearing that it's free 2 play, that takes some of my excitement down a notch. I can see it now. Ace Combat is the kind of game that can easily be pay 2 win. In the Ace Combat games, the changes in planes weren't simply cosmetic. So if you have people paying for planes, only the best ones will be bought and the people that don't pay will get demolished.

No doubt there will be ingame purchases and how much is actually free remains to be seen. But they did say 'plenty'.

I heard the last game was pretty horrible which is probably why they're making this game free to play now. Hopefully, it won't be as bad as the last game, but as you said, you can't go wrong with free to play games unless it's pay to win.

I only played one Ace Combat game and that was way back in the PS 1 days. I was amazed with its graphics at the time but it gave me a bit of motion sickness and I got tired of homing in against the elusive bad guys. I got bored after a while. But since this is free to play, I'm gonna try it out. I'm not going to purchase anything within the game though.

It's quite common to see free to play games on the PC, but it's not every day that we get them on the consoles so this might be interesting to see how it will turn out. The trailer certainly looks promising and I'm interested to see if they will go down the ingame purchases model and if so how balanced it will be.

Once more, I agree with Oberon. There will be some catch to it.

But that's how free to play games always are. Microtransactions are how they make their money and stay afloat. I don't see it as a catch when it's something that the general populace is aware of in the first place.

Looks great! I've honestly never played this title before, but from the trailer, it looks amazing. I have a little trouble distinguishing between the gameplay and cutscenes, though. I guess I'm still getting used to the new level of graphics. Still, it's pretty cool that a game that looks that good is offered for free.

it does look great yes, i just dont want to get up to a certain level before they start pressuring you for purchases, that you practically need to buy to get the advantage.

Yeah, The game certainly looks good, but I'm going to be honest, I've never been the biggest fan of free-to-play games. Like Mudgee, I hope that if I do decide to play the game, I won't have to worry about annoying things bothering to make a purchase, or worse, being forced to buy something in order to advance further in the game. Still, I will definitely keep an eye out for the game when it's released.
