First impressions? The sticks feel way different. They are way less floaty and have some resistance to them. I can see how they will be much better for shooters. The touch pad is also a clickable button which I didn't know. The other major change are the bumpers and triggers. The L!/R1 buttons feel great. The L2/R2 I am mixed on. I feel like the 360 controller gets them best with a nice arching curve. The DS4 is has smaller flat triggers this time. Much easier to activate but smaller.

It does look quite a bit different than the last picture I saw. That, or I'm just misremembering. I liked the DualShock's design before, but I don't mind them updating it as long as it doesn't feel really awkward.

Ha ha..nice.
Ive heard someone else on another forum saying very good things about it too.

Lucky you...
People are already saying pretty good things about it, it's clearly a straight update from the previous one, can't wait to try it by myself. :D

I've received mine, but have yet to open it. Considering I work the 15th, 16th & 17th I may not open my PS4 :(

It looks like the old one but it does not feel anything like the DS3. The sticks are totally different, closer to an evolution of the 360 ones. The main buttons are different and no longer have analog sensitivity. I am a little worried I might click the touch pad by accident. It is sort of weird that way. And the L2/R2 bottons are totally new.

Looking real good to me. Really want to get my hand one an X1 controller too, for PC games. Both consoles seem to have very damn nice controllers.

That's awesome.

I'd really like to see it in action though. Could you post a review? I'm most interested in seeing it in someone hands and whether it looks awkward or is as elegantly comfortable as it looks without hands :D

Looks really nice actually! I'm excited to test out how well the touch pad works. I had some doubts when I first saw it but I haven't seen any complaints yet!

Aside from graphics, the controllers of new consoles are what I always notice first. I was surprised at the difference from the PS2 to PS3, especially because I was so late to get a PS3. The Xbox 360 controller was a huge improvement over the original Xbox controller, but I don't get the same impression of the Xbox One controller right off the bat. Still, it's something to look forward to on both the PS4 and XBO.

The plastic texture on the back is fantastic, it has the perfect amount of grip without feeling rubbery. I'm so glad the touchpad is textured as well. I feel like it gives you a lot more control over movement. The one thing that I have to get used to are the analog sticks. The way they're designed, the sticks kind of dig into your thumbs, but I think this is something that is just different from the 360 controller that I've been using primarily so I just need to get used to it.

It looks great! Why are they sending these out first, though? It must be incredibly frustrating having the controller but not being able to use it on anything. :) Anyway, thanks for sharing your pictures and thoughts with us!

I got mine yesterday and very happy with the upgrades that they did with the controller, my next purchase will be the ps4 camera.

-----------

It works on PS3 with quite a few games apparently, though not wirelessly,it needs to be used with USB cord.

Thank you for your opinion the author.

I can not wait to have my console and have the controller in my hands. I hear positive about it. It seems to have been extremely worked. I often play the shooting games, so this will be a real treasure controllers.

I'm glad they've kept the Playstation appearance.
They early sell their controllers that I see. I do not see the point of buying me a second controller personally. I expect real multiplayer games.

That controller does look awesome. I not many people will be very happy with their Playstation 4 in the next week, especially you. I have not yet made my decision on what system I will be getting.

I have to say one thing now that I have had some time with it. The rubber grips around the analog sticks look like they could crack. Think about a speaker woofer or speaker cracking around that inner circular part. I feels thin so you can tell there is hard plastic under there. Hope I'm wrong about that.
