I'm just curious on the forum's thoughts on this issue.....
It seems more and more, especially with the current gen platforms, that games are being released broken as developers know they can patch them at a later date. I have been gaming on PS systems since the original console for around 20 years now and games bought on PS1 and 2 all worked pretty much perfectly off the bat. There were of course exceptions but developers, without the safety net off online updates were much more careful about releasing a game that was actually finished.
It seems now that they simply rely on day one patches, and sometimes longer, to get the game to a standard that it should have been released on. Now, I pre-ordered 3 games last year: driveclub, Far Cry 4 and Assassin's Creed Unity. Of these only one (Far Cry) worked as it should have straight away (apart from a bit of a shaky multiplayer at times) whilst the others left a lot to be desired. I'm not intending this to be a bash at specific games - I did and still do love Driveclub for example but I think developers are now too pressured into releasing an essentially broken game for economic reasons.
As they say 'once bitten twice shy' (in my case twice bitten) but I will no longer be doing any pre-release orders to recieve what may be in essence a broken gaming experience. What are other's takes on this, are we as gamers waiting a few weeks after release to get a complete game??
