If you're up to date with the development for "Prey 2", it's been a long and difficult journey. First it was mildly mentioned by the project lead of the original Prey to be in development back in 2008, then the rights of the game were transferred from Radar Group to Bethesda Softwork, who then officially announced "Prey 2" was in development in 2011 for a 2012 release. But it was revealed the game would be delayed after rumours came out that the game had actually been cancelled, to which Bethesda did not comment on. Earlier this year, stores around the globe pegged the release date of "Prey 2" for December 31, 2013 which, again, Bethesda did not comment on. In May, reports came in that development had moved to Arkane Studios and that the development has been rebooted, scrapping all of Human Head Studios work and with a targeted release of 2016. On top of that, it had also been reported that Obsidian Entertainment worked on the game at one point for at least a few months.
Well, finally, it seems like there is a light at the end of the tunnel for "Prey 2".
According to some leaked emails, Arkane Studios are the ones helming "Prey 2". The emails reveal the Austin branch of Arkane Studios is beginning pre-production on the project. What's more - it looks like it will now be a spiritual successor to System Shock 2. Here is an excerpt from the leaked email that dates back to May:
"Austin has officially been green lit for its own project! Doing a new IP was not a possibility because it's adding risk to the challenge of growth, so after going back and forth with Todd, Harvey, Ricardo, we decided that Prey 2 presented an interesting opportunity if we could reboot it. Zenimax accepted our pitch which was "the spiritual successor to System Shock 3."

Over to you guys. Have you been wanted to see "Prey 2" released, or are you afraid that it will turn into a "Duke Nukem Forever" scenario?
