Batman: Arkham Origins to have multiplayer

Great concept. I hope that this would be fleshed out really well in the actual game. I know that it won't be as action-packed as the 3rd person or first person shooters out there but it would be an interesting change of style and pace. It would be a welcome deviation from the norm of multiplayer games.

Personally, I'm not fond of the idea of this game getting multiplayer. I'm sure plenty of people will like it. But the Arkham series had such a strong premise on single player. When I read this, the first thing that came to mind was Tomb Raider's multiplayer. A game that didn't really need it getting it tacked on. That's how I feel about this Batman situation right now

Here's the trailer for it:

I'm a little mixed. On one hand I feel it doesn't need multiplayer as I think the single-player element (as well as the challenges) is strong enough to stand on its own like the previous Arkham titles. On the other hand, 3 vs 3... vs 2 seems kind of neat and has a lot of potential.

Hoping we'll see some gameplay footage soon as I'm sure I'm not alone.

Meh, arena style combat. When game devs want to make some quick content (in particular for DLC) they put together these arena missions, there is very little new brought to the table here. You are using 90% of the assets from the single player game as well as the already existing combat. What you get is more of the same stuff, it's not that bad if it's included in the game like it is done here, but it's just a lazy thing to do. What I would like to see is the challenges from Arkham City and Asylum , but in multiplayer format, for example taking out all of the opponents in a given time or getting somewhere unnoticed and so on, but adapted for multiplayer kind of like the Lego Batman game where you have to work together.

Oh, wow! I guess I missed this news. The multiplayer trailer looks awesome. I have always been wondering when will they ever let Batman and Robin fight together. The 3 versus 2 matches are going to make my dreams come true. But, the trailer also confirmed that the gun fights and combat system is going to be a mess. Arkham Origins is designed to be a single player game and I expect the developers may have no idea on how to come up with an exciting gameplay model. Similar trials are being done with Splinter Cell Blacklist as well. I feel they won't have huge lifetime because players would eventually get bored of this world and the combat system. But, let me enjoy it as long as it lasts. Hope they got co-op objectives to complete as well to keep it interesting...

I think i can skip this.
If they make the core game good like the other two, then sure, a little multiplayer wouldn't hurt. But i do have to question, i do every AAA game that comes out recently has to have multiplayer? These are cases where the online survives for around 3 months maximum and then is dead, and the experience isn't even that good.
If only they focused on the main component of the games, things would be a lot better.

Multi-player will definitely make this game interesting. Especially if you are able to play multi-player during the actual storyline. I would hate to see the multi-player feature be available only during an extra mode. I am pumped for this multi-player mode though.

I hope they make it well and not something like in god of war where it felt like they just wanted to add some multiplayer without doing so many things they could have done with it.

I am a big fan of the Batman Arkham series. I absolutely love playing these games, because they have excellent plots and even better gameplay. They really do a good job at making you feel like you are really Batman. I think this will be the best Batman of the series, because this is a game I can honestly say got better as time passed.

I can't imagine how multiplayer would possibly go, or how much they can diversify it to make it interesting. I guess most online games are just giant fights anyway (GTA V anyone?) but that's kind of all this game is. Is it going to be engaging enough? It'll be interesting to see.

I have a hard time making myself understand the mechanics from reading the article, but then again, I never do understand any game instruction all that much based on text alone, I'm one who has to play it to understand. That said, hopefully they will at least just make everything balanced, so people will have a reason to be the thugs, but I trust they have given it a lot of thought. I'm personally not too excited for it, but I do want to see how it plays.
