Best ending boss battles on the PS1

We saw an evolution in bids battles during the SNES and the Sega Genesis days. Boss battles during these days became a lot more interesting. But it was during the time of the PS1 that boss battles became very creative.

Ending boss battles especially were big spectacles. An example would be Metal Gear Solid's ending boss battle wherein Solid Snake battles a huge Metal Gear Robot, then fight his brother one on one in a fist fight, then escape via a military jeep. What excellent ending boss battles have stuck to your head?

Yeah the Metal Gear ending was awesome! But my fight with Shao Kahn to the death was just nerve cracking, as a kid I was so frustrated playing and trying to defeat every enemy in MK and when I got to Shao Kahn the first time and beat the crap out of that butthole I just went on a party.

The boss fight with the One Winged Angel version of Sephiroth in FF7 is a classic. Add to the background the orchestral boss theme which makes it one of the best ending boss battles to ever grace the PS1.

I really was wow'ed by the B Scenario last boss in Resident Evil 2 where you fight the burnt up Mr.X that reveals himself to be a tyrant. Its not really much of a boss battle as it is you surviving long enough for the rocket launcher to get dropped for you so you can deliver the final blow. Still, the music and build up were awesome. William Birkin was great too.

I enjoyed Tekken 3's boss battle a lot, because it was the first Tekken I ever played and it was what initially made me realize that I could play and like Tekken, and getting to the Ogre battle was just the icing on the cake for me. After beating Ogre, he then transitioned into True Ogre, which was surprising to me at the time and the first time I saw it, I admit I was a little bit intimidated. :D

One game ending that really was good to me on the PS1 has to be metal gear. Especially when he hand to fight his brother like a man in a fist fight to the end. That game to me was the best game that I ever had the pleasure of playing on the PS1.

MGS3 was PS2, but I did like that final boss battle. My favorite boss battle in that game was versus The End in a sniper battle.

...didn't care for fighting The Sorrow.

Did you know that you could skip the battle with The End if you would be able to shoot him when he's in the wheel chair a couple of sequences before you actually meet? I do agree that the battle with The End is quite exhilarating.

I didn't know that! I'm sure I would've done it if I could, but I'm glad I didn't. It's up there in my top 10 as one of my favorite boss/final boss battles overall.

I just learned something new lol. I enjoyed that battle with The End. That was an actual contest of skill and patience at times. I'd hide in a log and wait until I saw his scope gleam...but man could he run from location to location fast for a guy his age!

Sephiroth was a great ending boss. Fighting him now would be much easier though with the concept of grinding having been established.

This one is easy. Liquid Snake from Metal Gear Solid. That was one EPIC battle at the end. I remember thinking "Damn, this dude will not die!" The voice acting, the music , and the graphics complimented the excellent game play very well in that sequence.
