I can't decide between The Last of Us and GTAV. Last of Us has a special place in my heart for now, but I don't know... GTAV might win me over eventually. This really was a great year for gaming. Here's hoping for another!

Grand Theft Auto 5 has great reason to be in contention, but when I look at The Last of Us I see a very original game that hits the ball out of the park in every aspect. GTAV had the luxury of building off of a very stable base of fans, a franchise formula that has already proven to be successful, and millions upon millions poured into development. For a game to be such a smash hit without needing any of this really gives me so much respect for The Last of Us. Its storytelling aspect is second to none in my opinion. I have to give it to Naughty Dog here.
