Best Games for the PS2?

What do you guys and gals think are the best games for the PS2?

I still love my console, and I am always looking for games to buy for it. My top picks for the system are Shadow of the Colossus, Katamari Damacy, Kingdom Hearts I & II, and Half Life. I know there are still so many great games left to dive into and try out, so I figured this would be the perfect place to ask.

Thanks!

I wouldn't put Katamari or Kingdom hearts on the top of my list. I wouldn't even consider Half-life because it was not originally made for the PS2. I do agree with Shadow of the Colossus. I think it's one of the best games ever made. Aside from that, I think Okami deserves a top spot on the PS2 games list. It's very pretty and the gameplay is superb. Metal Gear Solid Subsistence completes my top 3. It's my favorite Metal Gear game on the PS2.

If I could play on my PS2 again, I'd probably go for either Devil May Cry, NFS: Most Wanted, or Burnout: Dominator first. I'd probably play for a week straight if I got a hold of those games again somehow.

The best games for PS2? People have listed KH and MGS, which I would post too, but another game that needs to be on this list is Spider-Man 2. I can't tell you how many hours I wasted in that game just swinging around the city. To this day I still don't think they've captured how much fun this game was.

Oh man I almost forgot about Kingdom Hearts. That is a game I would definitely have to put at the top of my list. I remember when I first played Kingdom Hearts, I absolutely loved the game. It was so sweet, because it incorporated Disney characters, into a great game. It also had a great story line and plot.

I've seen threads like this pop up every once in a while in the forums and I always leave them with a mention of Shadow of the Colossus but people have already beaten me to that. Okami is another great game and everyone knows about Silent Hill. God of War was also great. Also, pick up whatever version of Soul Calibur was there for it and it'll be good.

The only special game on ps2 I love was madden 06. I always miss the mini drills in which you could make your players better rather than the slow apply sessions they added now

Manhunt, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and San Andreas are replayable and they still have the fun factor even up to the present.

Auto Modellista was one of my favorite racing games on PS2 and also Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero.
I enjoy any MGS game, Culdicept is a unique card battle game. And there is also Disgaea, a turn based tactics type game.

There's a lot of good games on the PS2, my youth was basically playing them, hahaha.
A couples one that comes right into my mind are: Ratchet and Clank, Jax, Sly Cooper, Metal Gear Solid, Shadow of Colossus, among many others.
Since the PS2 was around for so much time, a lot of classics were dropped.

I have to agree with the KH series. I would also add Final Fantasy X and Tekken 5. Soul Calibur 2 is really good, but I find the Gamecube version to be better due to it having Link.

14 replies and still no Ace Combat...
You better go play it right now, specially Unsung War!

Also get God Hand, Okami and Viewtiful Joe, if you like good games.

The Tekken and Soulcalibur series are definitely worth checking out if you're into more "interesting" fighting games. Silent Hill 2, God of War, and the GTA series (obviously) are pretty good too.

Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, War of the Monsters (the first one), Hot Shots Golf Fore, The Sims, The Sims Bustin' Out, Grand Turismo 3 A-Spec, Grand Theft Auto 3, Sonic Heroes, and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger (the first one). I was obsessed with those games growing up. I also played Frogger too. That was a pretty fun game too. I miss it though...
