Bungie talks Destiny development costs

Basically the article says that Destiny is crazy expensive and might do so major damage to both Bungie and Activision if it doesn't do well. The article quotes Eric Hershburg, stating that sinking so much money into a new ip is terrifying and that Activision itself was surprised about how much they had to spend to get the project off the ground. This makes me a bit concerned, but you can read it yourself.

I think it will do well, it has to, everyone was impressed by it. Bungie is a great dev and I'm sure Destiny will be a grand game with a ton of sweet moments. Bring me Destiny asap! I can't wait for the beta!

Bungie were the master minds behind Halo. I have a lot if confidence in their ability to make another groundbreaking ip that could rival games like CoD and Halo.

I want to believe that this is going to go well and that when the demo launches there will be nothing but praise. But the costs of development do concern me and make me wonder if something is wrong in Bungie. Both they and Activision have commented a lot about how much production of Destiny is costing them, so Bungie will definitely run into problems if sales don't go well.
