Buy the PS4 in Japan?

Hello everybody,

I am new to this forum, (I will introduce myself in the proper place now haha).Well, I have a few questions about the PS4 so I'd be grateful if any of you have the answers that I need.

I live in Shanghai (China) so right now I have 2 options, buy a PS4 next week in Japan, or wait until July and buy in in Spain (I am from Spain, sorry for my english haha)

The thing is that the PS4 is 100€ cheaper in Japan, so it's pretty attractive to buy it there... but it makes me wonder if everything would work as it should...

1.- I believe that the ps4 is region free, so I could get the games and DLC's from the USA psn sotre without any trouble, am I right?

2.- The ps4 is not region free for the Blue ray films, so I could not reproduce a Spanish film there, right?

3.- I believe that there should be no problem to play with my spanish friends or any of you online right?

if buying the ps4 in another region has any inconvenient, I'd be grateful if you could tell me.

You are right with the PS4 being region-free. The only thing that is region-locked is the account you make. Whether you make a US account, UK, Japanese, etc. Once you choose what region you want, you cannot change it!

Blu-rays are not region free unless a particular blu-ray specifies it being region free. So I'd say no, you wouldn't be able to play a Spanish blurays. Here's more in-depth look into regions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code#Region_codes_and_countries

Again, you are right. Doesn't matter where you are in the world. You'll be able to play with your friends

Thank you very much for the information Haze.

The thing is that the japanese ps4 is 100€ cheaper! so maybe it is woth risking... with that money I could buy at least 1 game...

So just to make sure... It would be possible for me to buy the PS4 in Japan, have a USA psn account so that I could buy the games in USD, and play with anyone in the world from China?...haha it sounds crazy.

Actually I play with my WiiU online with my firnds, so I believe that there should be no problem to play online with the PS4 in China...

EDIT: oh, by the way, Japan is NTSC territory While China and europe are PAL, I believe that the TV's nowadays accept all of them, so there should be no problem to use a japanese ps4 in any tv in the world... I guess that I may need to buy a plug adapter cos the Chinese plug shape might not be the same. am I right?

Absolutely. It's not the same system, but I am in Australia, had an American account and was able to play with people in the UK, Japan, Germany, etc.

So you should not have a problem there.

Hey, just to further allay any fears. I just got my Japanese console few days back. I live in India, works perfect. Made my India PSN account, it all works perfect! Only thing you might need to look at is the Blu ray movie thing, but I don't really care about the Blu ray discs, so wasn't an issue for me!
