Activision closing online service this week; everyone who has logged in since January 1 will receive double XP.

Some important points of what Elite closing means to you:

  • Call of Duty Elite Founders, members who signed up when the program originally launched in 2011, will get to keep their special emblem and it will continue to be displayed on their playercard in the Call of Duty app for Call of Duty: Ghosts.
  • Players who have logged into the Call of Duty Elite service since January 1, 2014 will receive two hours of double XP for Call of Duty: Ghosts. This will be available "soon."

It's really sad to see it go. A buddy of mine worked on it when it was still a paid service during MW3's hay-day, but I guess paying up for extra content that isn't maps didn't quite work out for them.

Wow I forgot that was even still around. I actually got a free year of it when I attended the Call of Duty XP even in Los Angeles. Also, got a free copy of MW3. Didn't make much use of either though.
