Can you connect a portable drive to the PS4?

Hi,

I'd like to know if you can connect a portable drive FAT32 or NTFS to the PS4, play the video files and import them on the PS4? I know on the PS3 you can do that with a FAT32 drive.

Thanks,

Serge

AFAIK the PS4 doesn't support this function unlike the 3. It may be a future firmware update but since Sony are marketing the 4 as a gaming machine as opposed to a media centre I wouldn't hold my breath

I've never tried but I don't believe you can. Kinda sucks because I used to back up my PS3 on an external hard drive and watch movies from it too. But I can still use my PS3 for that :) However, you can play music from a thumb drive now. If you are interested, check out the link before. Follow the instructions. It can be a pain in the ass if you don't do it right. I didn't follow them and got kinda mad at my PlayStation when it didn't work :)

Hi guys,

Thank you for all your information. I know it is possible with the PS3 and I've downloaded a lot of my movies on the hard drive. I've just bought the PS4 recently so I'm not very familiar yet with all the features. I also have another question and may be you might be able to help me, I bought the game "The Evil Within" for the PS4 and I wanted to get the season pass on the PS store, I got the confirmation of the purchase but I don't see where I can download it?...

Thanks,

Serge

Hey Serge, its off topic but I believe that apart from the initial weapons upgrade pack that came with the release of the game so far there has been no DLC for evil within so there is nothing to download yet. I think the first dlc comes out later this month.

You don't actually need to download the season pass, it is automatically applied to your PSN account so any future DLC is free

Ok thanks guys! That's what I read on other sites that the season pass will come out later this month, though it would have been nice if there was some notification on the PSN store after the purchase...

The databank concept looks amazing. I was however looking at getting a sata extension cable off ebay and then running that from my ps4 to an external hard drive in an enclosure that way you could get 3.5" massive drives.
