Hi everyone
Before I start, I should say I'm not a massive gamer and don't know all the acronyms for gaming so please answer like you're explaining to a hermit lol. That's not to say I don't know what I like when it comes to games.
I have 3 teenage kids and became a bit addicted to the Elder Scrolls franchise after moving on from Fable and the likes. Love love love Skyrim. I don't *do* PC gaming so when I heard the next ES would be for PS4 and PC we decided to upgrade from the PS3. What a waste it has been so far. We only forked out for it on the promise of ESO and Drive Club, the latter was meant to be out at the time of our purchase then didn't come out and now the same has happened with ESO. We've now been sat for months with essentially an expensive Netflix player. I can tell that when there finally is a game I like and/or one my hubby can play (he only really plays 'realistic' track based racing games due to severe sight problems) then it'll be well worth it but I thought I'd join up and see if I've missed anything that I'd enjoy.
What I'm looking for is an open world RPG with character creation beyond just male/female, and preferably able to be played in 1st person (or close 3rd person, not miles away at a push). It doesn't have to be magic and a weapon although I do like that. I also like being able to level up the skills I want to rather than general level ups.
All the games I've found so far fit some but not all and the criteria they don't fit is a deal breaker (sorry, just don't enjoy playing as a set character for example, or having to follow a story - what I love is being able to make a character fairly unique and to wander and do any quests at my own pace).
I figured here would be a good place to find out if there's essentially a Skyrim alternative that isn't going to cost me £9 a month (the reviews I've had off PC gaming friends are that ESO is expensive for the quality) and is either out already or soon to be released.
On a side note when my son bought COD Ghosts for PS3, all we had to do was pay a tenner for an upgrade for PS4, why won't they make this possible for the types of games I like
Thanks
Kathy
