Can't play as often as I'd like

As the subject states, I don't get to play my PS4 as often as I'd like :-(

I work a bizarre shift pattern in which I work 7 days at a time and then have 7 off, followed by 5 days with 2 off then 7 nights.
How then I hear you ask do I not get much time to play.

Well, my shifts are 12 hours, so by the time I get home at the end of a shift I am well and truly pooped.
And, because I am a complete moron, I work in Hampshire but my house is still up north in Chester until my Hampshire house is built.
My PS4 is a delicate and precious instrument and as such I don't want to keep packing and unpacking it into it's box and transporting it up and down the country.

These are truly sad times when a man can not indulge in his favorite passtime.

Does anybody else have this issue?

With console gaming I definitely have a similar issue. Most of my game time is in a middle of the night because my sleep schedule is messed up. Last night I slept from 12-3 played Destiny from 3-6, then slept from 6-7 before continuing my day.

Handheld gaming is a different story. I have almost infinite time for that at work. So my Vita and 3DS get a lot of use.

You should get a Vita or 3DS like Ridge, maybe you will be able to game during breaks or whatever at work? A Vita would be better if you have a great connection at home and near work, you would be able to Remote Play PS4 games.

I did consider that, but because of the job I do I don't have set breaks, it's just as and when the job demands and I have 5 sites to maintain :-(
I can't remote play either, I'm on an oil field in the middle of the woods so it's complete radio silence when I'm there, can't even get text messages :-(

I think a change of career may be in order.

I wish to play more too. Unlike Mike I have perfectly normal working hours 8-16. Life keeps be busy sometimes though. I had an idea to play at late night when I have trouble sleeping (happens to me often) but instead turning on my PS4 and have some fun playing I desperately try to fall asleep which is hopeless and doesn't work at all.

I rarely have time to play anymore. If its not for work, its someone else using the TV for other things. We have 2 TV's dedicated to games and they're usually taken up. Sure I could buy another or, sell one of the kids.

This is why I was going to get a 3DS, but that idea was shot down.

I definitely think selling one of the kids is a good idea!
I'm getting married next year so a little'n probably isn't too far away.
Fortunately my other half is a gamer as well so there is a mutual understanding there :-)

Yes, man, I've been there. I once had a job where I went in at 6 in the morning and came out at 5. I got home so tired that I only had time to take a shower, have some dinner and watch a little TV before falling asleep. I made good money, but it really wasn't worth it.

There was a time when most of my spare time was dedicated to console gaming. Until around the age of 14 or 15, I don't think a weekend went by where at very least half of it wasn't spent on my PS1/2. The same went for most evenings. I was obsessed.

However, another decade passed and my gaming time started to gradually decrease due to work commitments amongst other things. My money started to have greater importance elsewhere. I naturally upgraded to the PS3 when it was launched but even after all that time, I've bought considerably less games for it than either of the previous models.

These days, I've not had much chance to do many sizeable console gaming sessions and haven't for around three and a half years, now. As I've said before on other threads, I can still count on one hand the amount of games I've bought over the last two/two and a half years. I'm too knackered when get home from work and I've got other family commitments most weekends. I've very much become a casual gamer (after not being able to get me off the thing as a child/teen) and it's got to the stage where I enjoy watching someone else do them online rather than going out and spending my own money on them. Also the fact that not much out there interests me now as just about everything launched is yet another FPS title or a variant of the genre.

I don't really want to say this but as things stand, I feel I'm entering my 'twilight years' on console gaming. As and when I do upgrade to the PS4, I feel it's likely to be my last console (the 'last hurrah') before I call it a day and hang up the controller for the last time.

I'm a college student so my time varies, some weeks I'll have more time than others but I'll admit my gaming schedule is pretty tight as I have a lot of other commitments other than college.

My wife is a gamer, she got me into gaming. At one time I was one of those jocks too cool for video games lol

I'm actually a little relieved, I'm not the only one!

Not even had chance to look at my laptop for a week, been working nights. Literally just been sleep, work, sleep, work :-(

Fingers crossed I'll get some time on Destiny this week!

Man, that's probably not a healthy schedule. Sleep, work, sleep, work... you need some free time. Not just for games but to do whatever else, spend some time with friends/family etc...

Yeah it's not good for me at all. I'm diabetic and working shift very nearly killed me a few months ago.
But I like the money and the overtime is really good because I've just bought a house and am getting married next year.
Just throw a sickie in every now and then and all is good :-)

I didn't really touch my PS4 from when it was released until Destiny came out.. And it wasn't for a lack of time. I just didn't care for any of the games (only really played BF4, and hated CoD Ghost). Now I think I play too much (is there such a thing?!). But I work a Monday-Friday 8-5 job, single, with time on my hands.

Just wish they didn't make so many good games back to back now :(
