My name is James and we just bought a PS4.
We bought it for the grand kids but I was wondering if there are any slot machine for fun type games out there that my wife could play. She uses those free online ones now.

Nope. PS3 games are not playable on PS4. The main reason is that PS4 uses Blurays while PS3 uses DVDs.

Oh I didn't know that. I did ask that question before buying it but did not get that answer.

Parden my ignorance on the subject but I thought that you could play DVDs on a BluRay player

Welcome to the forum James/Shaman.

Yes,you can play DVD's on a blu ray player.But DVD movies,not games.
And actually Alex is not exactly correct on the PS3 using DVD format for its games..as the PS3 does use blu ray for its games.
Its just the PS4 is not backwardly compatible with PS3 game discs.
