Chrono Cross type RPGs for PS4...Anyone know?

I am a huge fan of Chrono Cross from PS1, and have been looking for anything close to the gameplay other than Final Fantasy (which I play too, just looking for something else). Any insight would be great.

Not that I know of. Chrono Cross was also made by Square and as of now, they're focusing so much on their Final Fantasy line of games. It would be nice to see a sequel to CC but I doubt it. We haven't seen anything about the game for two console generations (PS2 and PS3). Maybe the company thinks that Chrono Cross doesn't have a huge fan base?

Yeah man, good luck finding a good MMO/RPG game these days. Other than Dragon Age, Dragons Dogma and the most fun rpg game in awhile, Skyrim.

The plot was awesome, the whole, two world aspect was fun, especially in that day and age of the Playstation 1. It's interesting that no one had gotten inspired by such an epic game. Square knows their ****!

Sony has always made the go to consoles for great rpgs, so i'm sure we will see plenty. Square needs to get on it! Atlus too.

I'd say Atlus is the old school-style/turn-based/strategy RPG go to now. Square Enix doesn't get them out as often or put out a good variety. Back when SNES and PSX were the consoles to go to for RPGs, Square put out Final Fantasy, Valkyrie, Brave Fencer, Chrono Trigger, Front Mission, Mana, Live A Live and the Enix side was Dragon Quest, Robotrek (Pokemon before Pokemon), ACTRAISER, etc.

There was so much more compared to now just by titles alone.

Those were truly the days. Now PS3, DS/3DS, and hopefully PS4 are the go to group of consoles for consistently good RPGs...especially old school ones.

I think they will. They have made old school games for PS4, PSP, Wii and Xbox so I wouldn't see why not. It would be a surprise if they do but it's still a good idea since so many people liked the old Chrono Cross type games. If it was such a success back then, it'll still be good these days since it's something different.

I would love to see those type of games make a comeback because there is still a big market for them. But if you don't live in Japan or have a Nintendo system then you won't really get to play them. I'm not sure when it happened but the Japanese game creators have pretty much unamiously decided that Western gamers aren't interested in RPG'S and the dudebros have made it clear to them that they want games like COD. So we're at an impasse right now. Very few RPG'S make it through and the have to be 'mature' like the Witcher (incidentally one of my favorite games) or Skyrim to sell.

The closest thing to the old PS1 RPGs I can think of is this:

A dream game made by one guy. It'll be on the PS4 eventually. It's my most anticpiated RPG (yes, more than FF15 and KH3) and is probably the closest thing to Chrono Cross you'll get (especially with the Guild system).

That's pretty cool. He seems to be very passionate and dedicated. Looking forward to it.

I would love to see more JRPG's coming back and being successful. There were some amazing ones that came out on the PS3 that no one played and it still kills me a bit. For example Eternal Sonata was amazing but it didn't do well. However it was a great RPG, the problem is people not playing the games.
