Cloning Hard Drive

Hey everyone, first post here!

So unfortunately due to PS4's being sold out I couldn't pick mine up on launch day, but I managed to find one for sale on the internet and I bought that. Part of the deal with this bloke was that it had COD Ghosts already downloaded on to the hard drive, through his PSN account. Now this is no problems, I have been playing it on my name just fine.
However, I want to upgrade my hard drive to a 1TB 7200RPM one. Because it was downloaded in his name, I can't sign back in to download it with the new hard drive, so I decided to clone the hard drive.
I downloaded a program called macrium reflect, and cloned the original onto my 1TB one no worries. Plugged it into the playstation, all seems to be working OK, however, it still thinks its a 500GB hard drive! So I plugged it back into the PC and tried to expand the partition on the 1TB one, but there is about 11 separate partitions, and none of them are in a format that can be expanded. So I'm a bit stuck..

Any help/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You cloned a 500GB HDD obviously it's going to show 500GB in the PS4. I don't see of a way to fix this other than to re-format the whole thing and re-initialise the software via the PS4 but you're going to lose everything on it. The Playstation hdd won't show up correctly when plugged into Windows I think.

Yeah fair call.. Thats what I'm trying to avoid having to do lol. The way I was thinking it would work is it would copy the portion of the old hard drive, and then the rest would be empty space, not portion it like it has.. Kinda.

If his name is still on the system (which it must be to be able to play the game) you should be able to just upgrade the HDD. If you back up the data it will still be there when you load it onto your new HDD. Sounds like you just added extra confusion for no reason

In order to change the HDD, the PS4 will need to be reinitialised meaning all the data will be wiped out. To redownload the games, she will need the sign-in credentials of the PSN account that bought the CoD. Obviously she doesn't have it which was why she cloned the HDD so that he wouldn't lose the account.

I stand corrected, I haven't upgraded my PS4 hdd yet and assumed it would be the same as the PS3.

But yeah, you're exactly right. His user name is still on there, but he has signed out of his PSN for obvious reasons.

I'm surprised one of the drive cloning tools hasn't worked for this.

I'm sure it wouldn't or it would be all over the net ... They work for most filesystems so maybe the PS4 is something proprietary?
