Convince me to buy a PS3

Good day, Playstation people!

As some of you might know, I don't own a Playstation 3. Heck, the only consoles I own are the Playstation 1 and the Playstation Portable. A reason why I failed to buy the PS3 was due to the fact that my parents believe that video games are a waste of time and money. They think that the money should be spent elsewhere. Since I'm still a 16 year-old living under their roof and since I have no money, I will have to respect their decision.

Here's where my thread topic kicks in. Imagine if I had the money, my parents allowed me to buy a PS3, and the Playstation 4 was not yet announced. I could buy it anytime I wanted but I'm not yet entirely convinced. How would you convince me to buy a PS3?

Feel free to share. Thanks!

Blu Ray player and Playstation Exclusives. That's what sold me when i purchased one.

I mainly bought mine for the Blu-Ray player, but I also like the fact that I can use it to stream Netflix without having to pay for a subscription. The one area where it's superior to the 360 is that its online portion doesn't cost extra. You can pay for PlayStation plus and there are a lot of added perks there, especially free games (but they're only free while you have a subscription). PlayStation exclusives were another reason why I bought mine, but not the main reason. I got a pretty good deal on a PS3 slim that came with the Game of the Year edition of Uncharted 3, and buying it at Best Buy got me a $5 reward certificate.

I think the price for a PS3 right now is just right, and for what entertainment it could bring you, I think it's very much worth it. Also, if you're just going to buy one right now, then I'd assume you would be doing a lot of catch up with all the interesting games that have been released, and that will keep you entertained until years after PS4 has been released, which would mean that at least by that time hopefully PS4's prices have been slashed substantially already as well. All of that, and add that pretty much everyone has already played their games and are now selling them for a cheap second hand price, Id say it's a pretty good time to buy one.

There couldn't be a better time to buy a PS3 than now. PS4 just got announced, which means 80% of the PS3 library just got released, so you will never get tired of the games available, you have the best model for a low price, which sometimes can even get you a bundle with a bunch of games and also free Playstation Plus subscription, which means even more games.

What more could you want?

I would honestly save the money for the future. The only reason I bought it was because my friends recommended it to me. I had an Xbox before I got it, since it was given to me from a friend, but I grew tired of it so I just decided to buy one.

If anything, you should make the choice whether to buy it or not. Unless you have games in mind for the PS3 that you want to play badly, I don't see another reason to buy it.
