"Defiance" going Free-to-play in July!

Trion Worlds, developer for Defiance, have officially announced that their MMO shooter will be going Free-to-play with the transition coming into place July 15 on the PS3.

If you purchased Defiance over the past year or so, will be granted the following below:

A grant of 1,000 Arkforge, a currency redeemable for resetting weapon mastery, upgrading your weapon’s power rating, or even bumping an uncommon weapon to epic rarity.

4 Character Slots, 5 Loadouts, up to 75 Ark Keycodes, and a minimum 70 Inventory Slots.

They will also enjoy thirty days of Paradise Patron status when Defiance begins its free-to-play service.

I look forward to this as I played the Beta and while it didn't seem very stable, I still had some fun. So count me in as one who'll pick this up when it becomes free-to-play.

Well as its a free to play title its worth checking out I guess.

btw:I know the TV show is based on the game but personally,after watching about 4 episodes I got tire of it,too cheesy and it just plain sucked

Yeah I never watched the TV series. Didn't seem all that great to me. I know they've said season 2 will start to cross-over between the show and the game. But still...

I considered buying this game new, it looked really fun and innovative. I'm glad I didn't however, since it seems like no played it, along with the fact that the game's price dropped like a brick.

I will try this out though, I just haven't heard anything about it for a while. Not really interested in the TV show, honestly.

Just thought that I would update members here. Looks like there will be a delay for the free-to-play Defiance on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Currently, there is no ETA:

After careful deliberation, the development team has decided to postpone the launch of Defiance Free-to-Play on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, originally targeted for July 15. A significant factor contributing to this delay is that we want to ensure a stable launch.

As you’ve seen or possibly experienced this week, we’ve been having stability issues with our console platforms. The team is working on a number of game additions as part of its crossover with Season 2 of the Defiance TV show and the latest build has negatively impacted game stability. Our programmers are working on addressing these issues.

While we don’t have a new ETA for the transition to free-to-play on console, please know that this is a priority fix for us, as we are eager to welcome fans on all platforms to the new Defiance experience. We will provide updates on our progress toward the Free-to-Play launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as they are available. Thanks for your understanding and patience as we work to ensure a stable and successful launch on console.

Agree,I watched 3 or 4 eps and decided it was complete rubbish.

Still,Im sure the game is worth checking out at least.

It's basically a third-person MMORPG shooter. From what I played quite a while ago I enjoyed it. It's not going to blow you away though.

Personally, I've heard it was pretty crap and that the playebase was pretty low these days..
