DLC multiplayer maps are free

Ahh, who doesn't love a variety of maps? More maps, the better, as long as the game doesn't get repetitive. I also like the fact that you start off with every weapon in the game without having to buy anything.. I just hate going into a game to see that the enemies have unlocked the most overpowered weapon in the game and the only way to access it is to reach a certain level. Looks like they're turning away from the generic FPS games and offering certain aspects of the game for free.

Yep, you read that right. Guerilla mentions that “To increase longevity even further, we plan to continue support for the title well after launch – and yes, DLC multiplayer maps will be released free of charge to ensure everyone can play.”

Woohoo, they are heroes for doing this. I've never played a Killzone game but if this isn't incentive I don't know what is. Fully unlocked guns and free maps is a player's dream. I just wonder what's going to be unlocked through progression though. I haven't been following Killzone too closely; anyone with detail on how this game works?

This is interesting. They tried this model with Starhawk and nickel and dimed on some other items so it was really a choice to support the game. This is something devs should consider. I am sick of paying for maps only to never play them. This ensures you will be able to play those maps. Awesome, +day 1 for me.

Wait are map packs free or what? i'm not to sure on this topic is it saying that map packs have became free or are you saying you want them to be free.

Just read this a while back. Amazing news really. Good guy Sony just keeps getting better. New and Free DLC for one of the most anticipated PS4 games? Yup, Sony's doing it right!

And brad..read the forum section we're in. We're talking about Killzone.

So if the DLC multiplayer maps are free by design, I assume that there's more content in the DLC that would be worth paying for? Like, would they be releasing additional campaigns and skins and stuff?

I know there are a lot of gamers (myself included) that play games mostly for the multiplayer. This news is certainly appreciated as it means that I can keep that money in my pocket and still be able to enjoy the new content as it arrives.

Really cool for them to do this and i hope that they don't change their promise over time, maybe they will focus on just selling cosmetic stuff like weapon and player skins.

That's a great PR move. Map packs are usually the bread and butter for any shooter that determines its lifetime. I for one am one of those who HATES paying for the same map in a sequel game as I already paid for in a previous game. Hopefully this is not a play on words, and they offer free maps, then free-mium maps where there are better options or more interesting designs.

Well, that's great to hear. Guess they won't be screwing their fanbase like OTHER shooters, heh? This sure makes me much more interested in Shadow Fall...

He is merely reiterating what Rockstar has stared. Anyone who'll buy GTA V will b able to download these multiplayer maps for free.

Good for them, I always think that they should publish their DLC for free, I mean.. we've already forked out 50 bucks for the game after all....
