Do You Feel The PS4 Will Be Too Expensive?

Being an avid gamer, I know that buying video games and consoles involves a lot of money. Add to the fact that gaming companies are always adding different elements and accessories to gaming systems, it just seems inevitable that the PS4 will be more expensive than its predecessor. Every time a new system comes out, the price is jacked up even more. Do you think people will look at the price and be discouraged? The economic climate is not in great shape right now and some people, despite how passionate they are about gaming, might think long and hard about purchasing a new system.

Maybe as expensive as the PS3 during release, but let's hope that they lower it a bit, because that damn price was ridiculous to begin with, even if the technology was really ahead of it's time.

I'll wait at least a year to buy the PS4, anything over $500 is a bit ridiculous.

I think it will be very expensive. They like to cash in on the first week sales and stuff like that. I honestly thought the PS3 was too expensive to begin with. But, then again - I can imagine the technology improvements they'll add to the PS4. It'll basically be like a computer that you can play games with whilst connected to your flat screen tv.

I think it will of course be really expensive when it is first released, but this is to be expected. I think it will be around the same price that the PS3 was, but perhaps up to 100$ more. The wise people will wait until the price drops, but of course many will purchase it as soon as it's released also.

In some online shops in the UK I know that the new Xbox has been confirmed at £399 and Playstation normally always charge a higher prices than Xbox on their newer consoles so depending on the packages maybe the same price or £449 something like that?

With the games being £59.99 - £69.99 it looks like its going to be a really expensive month when it gets released out into the shops!

So yes, I believe it's going to be very expensive indeed!

Yes, it will probably be very expensive at first, but it's not like this is Sony's first rodeo, so I bet they will have a proper timeline and plan for it. Surely, what price they come up with for the initial release, they have studied extensively utilizing their teams of researchers, and they will at least have some sort of projection enough to keep them safe for the first phase. If Sony were to fail with the PS4, I doubt it will be because of the price. Gamers will support those who are deserving and fair, so I say that the only way they could screw this up is to make a bad system and/or alienate their audience.

Most likely. They will probably compete with the xbox with the pricing. Their price would either be higher or lower than the xbox.
Hopefully it's nothing too expensive though, over 700 or even 500 would be a huge amount.

Honestly, I think it'll be expensive. There's no such thing as a cheap console nowadays. As long as they would be able to justify the price tag with useful features and an awesome line-up of games, then I would happily fork-out whatever amount they want me to pay.

I think the consensus is that it will be expensive. Haha. But I think I will wait for the price to come down a little bit before I consider buying it. I don't like to get new consoles when they come out. I might do that for certain games, but not consoles.

I am guessing $449. Last time they weren't going up against Xbox at the same launch window. In addition, due to the unpopular features being announced by both sides (No BC etc) I think it gives Nintendo new life. They are expected to make a killer presentation at E3 with tons of games and I am sure a price drop. If Sony plays the price war right they can jump out to a huge lead. That GDDR5 is costly though...

Initially, I thought that the PS4 would be priced higher than the PS3 launch. However, there's news floating around that the Xbox One would be cheaper than the Xbox 360 launch. If this is the case, I think that Sony would follow suit and make the PS4 cheaper as well in order for it to be competitive in the market. I do hope that this news is true.

After reading the article where Microsoft stated the xbox would be lower than the original xbox 360, I'm interested on what Sony will do. They will either keep the price the same, and release an exclusive game along with it, or just lower the price completely.

As with all consoles when they are first released, it will most likely be way overpriced. I'm just really hoping I have the self control and can hold off in dishing out a bunch of cash and wait until the prices go down a little bit.

Ps3 was really expensive when it first came out. it still is, but when more games came out, the deal got better. i hope some of my favorite PS2 games appear on PS4, as well.
