Do you like to use a Mic?

When gaming on any game that supports Mic, do you tend to use it or not? do you find people using Mic's in gaming such as COD and GTA V is annoying or provides a better gaming experience overall? I don't usually use a Mic when gaming, because I don't feel the need, however it does'nt bother me much if other gamers are.

I like to communicate with my mic.
It's just easier and convenient than talking specially on the consoles.
I use it on both pc and playstation and I can't go back now.

Sure,really only though if Im in a party playing CoD. Randoms in the game I often mute,depending on what they are saying etc.

I do enjoy using a mic as long as my friends are playing otherwise it seems pointless. As much as you could say using a mic would help in team based competitive games I just don't care for talking to random people while I play my games.

Well yeah, it aids communication a lot when you are playing team games. So, I do use it.

I get really into games and it might be off putting to other players. Plus I'm usually sitting in my living room and it feels weird talking to people on a mic while my wife or kid is sitting there.

I only use a mic when I'm in a party chat. Otherwise I get sick of hearing people scream into their mic and stuff.

I don't usually use a mic, even when playing online games. This is mainly because not a lot of other people seem to use mics, but also partially because I get tired of people making silly girl gamer jokes once they hear my voice. But if I end up with a really good group of players in a game like Battlefield, then I'll use my mic so that we can communicate better. I used to play with a gaming clan, and we almost always used mics so that we could communicate enemy positions and decide on strategies.

Depends what I am playing and with who I am playing. For example right now I play Swat 3 with my friends, and this game needs extreme team coordination and for this you must always talk and discus strategy with your teammates. In team shooters or some RPG's a mic is mandatory for a good outcome because you can't write a message and shoot the enemy in the same time.

I would only use one if I were playing with friends. Every game I play online I usually mute everyone before continuing. If I don't want to hear them talk why would I want to talk to them?

Do you ever play FPS games (CoD/BF,KZ) online with PSN friends? Or any other PS3 online game with PSN friends? Or perhaps you play SP only?

For me I don't play enough online games to guarantee the purchase of a mic. Although I love using it is a bit costly as per my own perception. But soon or later I will be playing a ton of this online to ensure I can buy one.

On certain games where teamwork is needed, I do use it, and it's very helpful. Other than that, I don't really use it, especially if just to trash talk.

I generally NEVER use a microphone, unless it's with friends in a smaller room or something. It's pretty annoying to see people (typically under the age of 15) shout random bs nobody cares about in a public lobby, usually involving someone's mother and what they'll do to her because the person dared to kill him in a competitive game. Especially in FPS games (Call of Duty, I'm looking at you) it's better to just disable voice chat altogether.

i dont often use a mic, but if im playing a game with a group of friends and its a game we all know fairly well, ill use a mic for coordination.

Mic definitely add a strategic element to multiplayer games.

Agree,first of all most CoD game have a minimum age requirement of 15 anyway (depending on your country etc) so they should'nt be playing it anyway.
However yeah,like I said,I use it when it party and usually mute everyone else,even randoms on my team,mostly.
I can appreciate being done over by good players and can let them know later and some joke and thank you about it.But its usually kids or young teenagers that will go the other way and insult you for being crap etc. That annoys me sometimes. But like I said,thats why I usually mute randoms anyway.

I try to avoid using a mic at all times, it’s just not worth it since it’s just a distraction to try and win the game. For me, when I used to just type all the time after each death on the PC, it was just a waste of time for me. Unless it’s with some friends of course or being part of a clan or something, then I’ll use it.

Other than that, with the random background noises and having to deal with angst-filled teenagers, I have it on mute by default.

i can do arnold's voice pretty damn good. I always say Get TO THE CHOPPER and people freak out.
