Do You Think PS4 Will Have A Second Version?

Speculation time. I don't think they will be making a second version this time around. I don't know why I feel that is so, exactly, but I think it has to do with the current design of both Xbox One and PS4 to be very "set" already. Personally, I think unless succeeding versions are released to re-invigorate interest, then they won't release a second version anymore, at least not for a very very long time. I'd liken it to the how the Vita is already too "perfect" in some ways that it might not be necessary or even advisable to make another version just because. What do you think? And are you hoping to see a second version?

It is obvious that there will be a second version of Slim or something like that. Over time, they want to build the cheapest PS4 consoles.

So, sales will climb. Then the price will fall.

It is necessary that the PS4 already have a successful launch, and after, they talk about the second version.

I think it's inevitable, really. They've done it with every single one so far, and the fact that they haven't changed the name of the console before is a sign that Sony is habitual. Some people may say "they should get it right the first time," but updating a console with a new version is preferable to releasing a brand new console every couple of years.

Yeah I really think down the line in a couple years or so there will be a Slim version. They've done it with all their consoles thus far so I don't think the PS4 will be the exception.

It's true, I think it is inevitable that different, perhaps sleeker versions of the console will be made. It really is just a ploy to milk as much money out of the franchise as possible. Plus, some people are all about the aesthetics, and they don't really care about the profit console companies make as long as they can get their hands on the latest model. They will spend so much money trying to perfect the system because they want to milk all of the profitability out of it. That's what makes the business work. Extras such as different designs are only a device to ensure this happens.

Even Nintendo does this with the Gameboy Advanced (SP), and the multitude of new DSs over the years. There is practically no avoiding it now that they know the business of creating different versions and marketing it as if it were a "new product" is definitely lucrative.

I think they might do a second version but right now it's too hard to tell considering the original one isn't even out yet.

Hopefully if they do decided to make newer, sleeker, better, and whatever they don't botch it up. I could totally see a second version coming out and costing less to make but keeping it at a higher price so that they make more money.
Although honestly I don't believe it would really matter as long as your regular PS4 doesn't kick the bucket.

If the 7th generation is anything to go by then most likely yes, they will make a slimmed down version at some point. I don't really see the point in cosmetic changes, but if they can improve things like air circulation or give it more reliable hardware then I would be all for it. But still, I think it would be a good couple of years before we see any remakes.

History tells us that there will be a second version. The original PlayStation had multiple versions. The PS 2 had a slim version. The PS 3 had also different versions. The iPhone 4 has a 4s. Oh wait, that's not Sony's. Anyway, it's the trend for electronic gadgets to release a second version. I've got no problem with this so far though.

Given how the PS3 has 14 different configurations and SKUs, I'm sure they will. I am willing to bet they will have 2 or 3 different configurations close after launch as well, maybe with different HDDs or (fingers crossed) PS3 backwards compatibility.

I am almost sure that they will. With all consoles and popular systems, as they are used people will find flaws with them and Sony will look at the feedback that they are getting and change their console accordingly. It's also possible that they may release a console with updated hardware every now and then, in order to keep the console modern and able to handle progressively more demanding games. For instance, one new version of the console that will be inevitable is the PS4 slim, which may or may not include more RAM or Hard Drive space, but it will be an alternate version of the console.

most likely, like what system has come out with only 1 version thru out it's life?
my guess is there will be a KillZone Edition or something like that.
