Do you think there will be a PS4 Slim in several years?

I think so, because there has been a slim version of every PlayStation made. So, what do you guys think?

Of course, there's going to a slim version. Not only for PS4 but Xbox One too. I predict that in two years time, both companies will unveil their slim versions on CES. PS4's version might have a bigger difference while the Xbox One will be smaller but not by much.

I Can see that happening, but the PS4 is already pretty slim. On one hand I know there's going to be a slim, but on the other hand the design makes me think Sony went "We're not going to leech gamers' money this time, just release it thin from the jump, guys."

Sure but I'd give it a couple of years. Once PS4 sales start to dip, then we'll see the slim version being announced. But right now Sony is finally making some money and the Playstation team is justifying their existence, bringing out the Slim would hurt them to badly. I want to see the slim though if only to see what features it will and won't have.

I'm sure there will be, but the PS4 is pretty slim as it is. To be honest, I don't know who else they could improve on a sleeker smaller design. Would be interesting to see what they come up with.

They always seem to come out with Slim models anyways, not sure why really, maybe for convenience so we don't have a big ol' console sitting on our tv stands or something. Warrior is right though, it isn't a giant console anyways. The design is simple but badass too.

I could see the PS4 slim launching at some point. I mean every other Sony console has had a slim model.

I would like to think they would create a slim in at least two years. It just makes sense for business as Sony will be able to make money just by putting something different out for their loyal supporters. Also, it's been their pattern with the previous consoles.

Yes, definitely.
Sony really likes to do this, and they can sell them pretty well so I'm pretty sure it is going to happen.

Exactly dude! It's more convenient for everyone and maybe they'll learn how to do it even better than PS2 and 3. Maybe more ventilation and it'll be packed with all the new updates that came out before the PS4 Slim. Who knows but I'd love a Playstation 4 slim right now. I wonder how it would look...

Of course we're getting a PS4 Slim. Do we really need one? I'd say no, it's the least space eating PS of the launch model ones. Even with PS2 I didn't feel a Slim was really needed since it didn't eat up space when I had my N64, Gamecube, and Dreamcast set up.

People will eat up a Slim model though.

Totally, They always do something like that where they release a slimmer version of something to get more sales. Also even though it's slimmer, I just bet that they could have released this on launch date but they don't because you would buy the PS4 then the PS4 slim later making more sales for their company. It's really smart though because they just get more sales out of it but like they lose nothing.

Considering the fact that there are phones nowadays with 3GB of RAM (Oppo Find 7) and octo-core processors(Galaxy S4), why should it come as a surprise if a slim PS4 came out? It is better anyway when traveling or going to a friend to play.

Definitely, as far as I know they only change the physical dimensions and maybe mess around with a few fans/general parts? I know it would be unfair to upgrade the performance power of the machines but at the same time think it would be good in terms of preventing outdated hardware.

They probably will, so I just have to wonder if I wanna wait until then, or sell my PS3 to get the PS4 this year. I'm kinda waiting on Nintendo to throw in the towel and port over classic hits to the PS4 and XBOX, like Sega did. It's a longshot, but I kinda hope it will happen!

They could have made a slim one to begin with, but the accountants probably told them how to milk as much as possible form this thing.

Yeah, a slim version of this particular PlayStation isn't really needed, but there will be one. It's the good version of not needing something. Like we didn't need Godzilla 2000, Sega 32X/CD, Giant Gonzales' costume, or any of that, but we got it anyway.

Sure. I don't see why they won't do it. I mean we don't need it like SpaceTiger said because the PS4 is already slim enough. I know it fits perfectly in my gaming set-up. I didn't have to do anything really to make room for it and I like it. But a smaller PS4 that isn't as expenseive? If there's a profit in it then Sony will do it.

I can see it being worth it if it's inexpensive. That said this is the best designed PlayStation I've gotten after looking at the others I have. Just based on this being the 1st generation of a successor console that is.

I still think the original PS2 is the best design yet, but the PS4 is a close second. If they do a refresh, I hope they retain the design and just make it smaller.
