Dragonball z Budokai 3

Does anyone else agree that this is by far the best Dragonball Z game to ever be released? The series was okay with the first and second games but on the third entry, the developers, a studio known as Dimps really stepped it up. The level of detail they added to the characters and stages was top notch and this game really felt like an actual DBZ game. I loved that when a character transforms, there is a short scene were the character powers up like they would do in the show. Then how after performing an ultimate attack, the stage you were on would be destroyed. Also teleportation and flight at will were great additions. I always hoped there would be a Budokai 4, but it seems that won't ever happen.

I had Budokai 1, 2 and 3, but my PS2 died on me before I got too far into Budokai 3. I just remember that the gameplay itself was good, but I got stuck at one part toward the beginning of story mode (or whatever the equivalent was). I'm generally not a fan of fighting games, but I loved the Budokai games. Once it got into Tenkaichi or whatever it was, things got way out of control and the games were virtually unplayable. Maybe I was just really bad at it, though.

I was pretty impressed with the Dragon Ball games on the PS2. They were way and above those that were seen in the PS1. It really felt like you were watching the anime. The fights felt authentic and the voices were quite good. I don't know if Budokai 3 is the best though. I think that they are all similar. Lol.

I only found out and got to play this series on the PSP, and unfortunately I don't think I ever got to play the third one. If it's anything like the first two, though, then I'd agree completely. I even think it ranks up there with many other fighting games like Rival Schools or something similar, and that's a lot more than what I could say for all previous DBZ games on older consoles. I was really surprised and impressed after having gotten to play these games, especially the second one, and if that's any indication of the third then I can't wait to find a copy and play it. I think the best part of it is that the controls aren't too complicated (best I can remember) so it's easy for anyone to pick up and play which counts for a lot when it comes to finding someone to play with on fighting games. Hopefully there will be a 4th installment, but if not, at least 3 will be new to me. Thanks for the recommendation!

I do regret not being able to play through 3. I get very frustrated with fighting games, though, especially when I'm not very good at them (which is often). I wish they had it on PSN--then I would consider buying it again.
