Dualshock 4 3.5mm jack

Hey guys I was about to buy the playstation gold stereo 2.0 I know how to set it up but what happens if I also plug it into the ds4 jack is it alternate method for audio output....or what is it for?

It would work through the audio jack using the supplied adaptor but I'm not sure why you'd want to when its wireless already?
I use the adaptor Jack for my laptop
