EB Games raising game prices in Canada - Will Gamestop do the same?

I'm not sure why this is is a thing but EB Games has announced that their raising the prices of next-gen titles to $64.99. And it seems serious because people are reporting seeing posters with these prices advertised for games like Watch Dogs and Titanfall. I just can't believe that their doing this since it to me at least is a bad idea. I'm wondering though if it's just EB games or other retailers.

Notably Watch Dogs, Wolfenstien, Destiny, Thief and Lightning Returns are all $65 now at EB Games Canada. No reason has been given for this price hike and we aren’t likely to get one. It remains to be seen whether GameStop (who owns EB Games) will pull a similar move in the US.

Best Buy and FutureShop have also begun raising upcoming software prices to $65 in Canada as well but there doesn’t appear to be a clear pattern to this. Some of these $65 titles at Canadian retailers are PS4/Xbox One games, some are Wii U and PS3 titles.

Retail prices for games here in AUS are usually high too,for new release games anyway. Especially at rip of stores like EB.
Places like Target,Kmart etc are usually quite a bit cheaper but many of us here in AUS buy online,and usually import too.

I know that prices are outrageous in places like the UK, AUS and I hear that South American game prices are completely out of control. But for the most part, Canadian prices have been on par for that of the US. So I imagine that for a Canadian gamer this is a shock. I'm wondering if it's just EB games or are other Canadian retailers raising their prices to?

If they do I think you will find EB games starts to disappear. Best Buy in Canada has the game listed for the usual $59

I agree, games cost enough as it is! EB games left the UK years ago, if they decide to start charging more in Canada, then it won't be long before the Canadians will be saying goodbye to EB Games.
