Fallout 4 Teaser Website was a Hoax

Unfortunately the Fallout 4 teaser website was just one gigantic, yet genius Hoax. According to the website itself and other media outlets, you can thank Reddit users for /r/Fallout. The trolls on the internet will almost always prevail and challenge our beliefs at what news is actually real news. The Playstation 4 and Xbox One might be crying right now but the fans are the ones whom are let down the most. Bethesda will most likely comment on this sometime this week.

Are you disappointed as much as I am? All in all, I applaud them for such an amazing hoax and unlike most Hoaxes, this one you can appreciate just as much as you hate it.

Disappointed, but it was a good hoax. It also let Bethesda know what we actually want next from the reaction the hoax got everywhere.

...plus the hype here did spawn a few good ideas.

I'm a little disappointed as Fallout 4 is something I really wanted. I know it's coming eventually, but that would've been the non-TESO Bethesda title to wait for. It was a really good hoax though.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that it was confirmed to be a hoax all by one guy. And it's surprising that he was willing to spend, I think, a grand on fooling the internet. I'm not sure if he was trying to draw attention towards us getting our hands on another Fallout or what but good job dude.

I'm glad I wasn't fooled. I never visited the website in the first place. I don't like visiting websites specifically designed for one game alone because I know that it would only be marketing and advertising galore. The main websites that I trust are video game review websites like IGN and Gamespot. If it ain't in their website, it ain't real.

I still think it was a great hoax. Like I've said in the thread and SpaceTiger, it's a good way to remind folks that we want Fallout 4. And I liked the enthuism of the person who created the site, they spent real money on making this thing so you have to give them some credit. They did a great job with it.

That's true. Anything Bethesda puts out will be great for the most part, but right now Fallout 4 needs to be at least next after tying up Elder Scrolls Online and getting it out. The hoax was a real good one.

The hoax fooled me. It was like the best hype for a potential Fallout 4 announcement. Now we'll just get a trailer and maybe an E3 announcement. If this would've been done in the lead up to E3 2014 more people would've definitely been fooled.

Such a shame, was really keen for Fallout 4. That said I know we'll definitely get it eventually and this will hopefully inspire some more enthusiasm for the game.

The hoax reminded me of how much I want this game. I want Fallout 4 and while the hoax got me for a while, the tweets from Bethesda woke me up and I decided just to enjoy the work of someone whose obviously a fan. Now I don't know what they wanted to accomplish but if it was getting some attention from the series then they've won.

It was a truly great hoax, for the simple fact that it was good enough to get people talking. He spent money to make it real and while people doubted it, he did a great job at driving the rumor. I want him to reveal himself too because he deserves to get credit for this. Seriously well done.
