Farewell Tony Hawk / Neversoft Merging with IW*

Dualshockers reports from Neversoft,

As we reported back in May, Activision has decided to retire the Neversoft name and that its staff would be merged with Infinity Ward who are best known for the Call of Duty franchise. Neversoft helped during the development of Ghosts so this is a natural move to make on Activision’s part.

Neversoft hasn’t released any games in a few years and gamers are no longer interested in Tony Hawk or Guitar Hero which were this studio’s biggest hits. It’s always a shame when a studio has to close its doors but it is good to know that the staff won’t be unemployed and will now be working on future Call of Duty games.

What are your thoughts on the merge? Do you remember playing the Tony Hawk games on the PS1? Will this merging possibly improve IW's CoD quality next time around? Post your comments below.

I couldn't possibly forget any of the amazing Tony Hawk pro skater games that were released for the original PlayStation 1, even if a boulder crushed my head. By the dear graces of God I hope Infinity Ward doesn't go and ruin this all time classic. As long as Neversoft is on board I think we'll be all right.

Yeah I remember spending a fair bit of time playing the Tony Hawk games because I quite enjoyed some of their silly and over the top situations. Probably my favorite would be Underground 2 and Pro Skater 3, or they're the ones I played the most at least.
I do certainly hope that that perhaps this helps everyone out in the process.

I'm sad, I bet you most of those guys from neversoft are going to leave and form another studio somewhere. Atleast I hope so, if not that would be talent wasted.

I know this is the case for some many people, but Tony Hawk Underground and forward are some of my favorite games from my childhood. I even liked the games that a lot of people didn't like Project 8 and Proving Ground. I even had Tony Hawk Underground 2 for the PSP.

Very sad to see them go.

Sure I remember them but now they are ancient history. The merge will be a good one, its a win/win situation for everybody, except maybe for Tony Hawke.
