Favorite video games character

There are a few characters in video games you just can't help loving irrespective of the quality of the game they are in. It can be a personality quirk, a power, their role in the story line or the character may just be a badass. So, who's your favorite video game character?

I'll just go retro with my choices because my favorite characters are the two commandos Mad Dog and Scorpion from the original Contra game. They were of course infuriating with their 3 lives but it takes a special kind of bad ass to walk into an alien infested region armed with just a gun and reinforcements randomly being thrown your way. Mayor Haggar from Final Fight is another awesome character. Think about it, he's a mayor and a pro wrestler, and he piledrives his way forward in the game.

Among recent characters, I like John Marston from Red Dead Redemption and Bioshock Infinte's Booker DeWitt.

I'm going with Solid Snake. The ultimate badass soldier. Despite his advanced, degenerative aging disease, he still managed to save the world from liquid snake as a senior citizen.
A close second would be Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII. Because who doesn't like a mercenary that carries a giant broad sword and can get two girls at once.

I always liked Wario. I have Wario Ware for gamecube and it is a pretty funny game. Waluigi is a cool character too. Crash Bandicoot should make a return to video games because he was always fun. I don't know why they gave up on that series. Orchid from Killer Instinct is another one that always impressed me. And Blanka from Street Fighter.

For a guy character, I like Arthas from Warcraft 3 for the story line and when he turned to lich king ,he's pretty bad ass. For a girl character,Oh man I have plenty..when I was a kid,I loved Chun Lie. A girl who kicks ass who doesn't like it. I also like Rinoa from Final Fantasy 8 and Yuna from Final Fantasy 10. Yuna is just so gorgeous.

Geez... um I like Bayonetta for favorite female character and the Protagonist from Bioshock 2 for favorite male. Runner-ups are the old Laura Craft and the Joker (what? he's been having a great run lately).

I didn't even know that the dudes from Contra had names, and what metal names they are!

For me, i would guess i would go with Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes or Dante from Devil May Cry (the original one, not the meth head from DmC) and Gene from God Hand.

Their full names are Bill "Mad Dog" Rizer and Lance "Scorpion" Bean. Yeah not as metal as their nicknames but the dudes went off alone against an entire alien organization. They could be called Bruno or something and they'll still be pretty cool.

I think my favorite video game character is the sword wielding Dante from the Capcom "Devil May Cry" series which to me is the absolute best hack and slash game ever created since of course Gauntlet. The second game in the series was kind of off and not a worthy entry at all, but the first and third are special games and I would spend hours just building Dante up and making him a total powerhouse so when I got to the insanely hard levels of this game I would just fly right through them most times. If you have not played these games I highly recommend them and always point to this series as a true gem in Capcom's legacy of gaming. Mega Man runs a close second and is the man with plan and a cannon for an arm.

Bill Rizer is pretty generic, but still pretty manly sounding. Lance Bean is just lame.

I'd have to go with Snake; whether it's Solid or Naked. David Hayter made that character. An honorable mention is Ramza from FF: Tactics - specifically the War of The Lions version, which had edited dialogue aka significantly better dialogue. Ramza was a badass in that game, and largely due to his script. It's hard to go with voiceless characters like Wander from Shadow of the Colossus, or Link, despite the fact that I love the games so much.

Thank you - what is wrong with people?! Dante is supposed to be a hilariously "Radical" white-haired bishie - why make him into a Sasuke knock-off? Why?! All I have left is you Bayonetta with your innuendo and humor and fantastic behind. I miss you Dante...

So much feels in this threads I'll go with Leon Scott Kennedy from Resident Evil 4. Funny, smart, brave and good looking. My secong pick is Kratos, why? Because he's the baddest badass in video games hirstory (my opinion).

I like Kratos the video game protagonist but Kratos the character is a bit of a dick.

I always thought Niko Bellic from GTA IV was a really interesting character. He had a lot of background and didnt want to get into the stuff that he did, but he had to whether he liked it or not.

As for an actual character, I'm pretty fond of Barrett from Final Fantasy VII. He's got that attitude that straddles the line between bad-ass and hilarious. The whole gun-for-a-hand thing is a bonus.

Lenneth from Valkyrie Profile. She is one badass chick. I love playing this game and doing her Neibelong Velestry. I didn't spell it right, but I love this finishing move. I always try to make sure to do her last in my attacks just to see this move. There are a lot of good finishing moves in this game but I think hers is the best. I love playing this game and I play it whenever I want a break from another game.

Here are my favorite video games character-

Carl Johnson (CJ FTW)- Loved this guy, was my favorite at that time.
John Marston- Loved him always and still love him, love the way he talk.
Vaas Montenegro- Played FC 3 for 5 times just for this guy.
Niko Bellic- Dunno why but I liked him.

But my most favorite is John Marston.

My favorite character is Lara Croft hands down. She's the ultimate badass, no one else can come up to par. The way she fights and handles resources are awesome. I really came to like her after playing the recent Tomb Raider.

A few wildcards here, Tom Nook and Mr. Resetti from Animal Crossing. They are both just hilarious characters in their own ways.

Tom Nook because he reminds you of that business guy who always acts like he is doing you a favor. When it reality, you are getting gouged.

Mr. Resetti because of well...he's Mr resetti. Seriously, the idea of a character who only comes out when you reset without saving is genius. You really get the feeling of a kid being scolded by his parents when Mr. Resetti comes out.

I like fighting characters a lot more even if we don't get as much insight into their character and backstory. I just mostly like the way they are designed since their appearances are usually exaggerated to differentiate them further from the other characters. Of all fighting game characters, I like Sub Zero and Scorpion the most, especially for their rivalry.
