I have been seeing pieces about this for a few months and now only a week before it's release in Japan, I really have to stand by at scream FOUL and the top of my lungs.
This set is being released to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the FF series and contains all the main line FF titles from FF1 through FF13 (FFX-2 and FF13-2 did not make the cut, on the plus side the FF7 version is the international edition). As a standing Idea, I can get behind this but their are at least three MAJOR flaws I see with this collection and I want to hear if others see it the same way.
1) This is NOT a compilation disk for the PS3. I can fully understand if they are not updating the individual games but it's not a remastered set of disks to work on one system. FF1,2,4 through 9 all are on PS1 disks, FF3 is a PSP disk, FF10, 11 and 12 are PS2 disks and FF13 is a PS3 disk (Yes the older FF games are the PS1 versions and no the NEs/SNEs, etc). Considering the modern PS3's do not have reverse playability and even the original models had trouble emulating ps1 games (Example FF8 has serious problems playing on the PS3) Then the buyer of this needs at least 2 systems (and Old PS3 and a PSP) and preferably, 3 systems to run all the games without a problem......You can't tell me these games could not be all put to a couple PS3 disks.
2) Chances are high that if you are a FF fan, you likely own the majority of these games already, there is nothing in this collection that makes me want to get them again when I actually already own these version. (Other then FF7 international, these are the versions that were released back in the day for most of us and I know other expanded FF games were released)
3) The price in Japan for this set is roughly equal to $456 USD.........I can buy ALL of these games separate for less then half that.
So that is my 2 cents right now, I think this is a horrible box set that is not even remotely worth it, what do you think?
