Final Fantasy XV to have multiple direct sequels.

The creator of Final Fantasy XV, Tetsuya Nomura has announced that the game will have multiple sequels and the story will not conclude in one game. How does everyone feel about this. On one hand it could be something great and XV could become it's own great franchise in itself. On the other hand though, it could become a situation similar to Final Fantasy XIII. The sequel to that wasn't received too well and it looks like the third entry in the series might have the same outcome. Not to mention the fact that it took so long for Final Fantasy XV to even come close to being released. Who's to say the same won't happen to the sequels?

Sigh. What the heck is Square planning to do with the Final Fantasy series? I think that they're aiming to take on the massive multiplayer online genre which could be a reason why the game won't have a definite ending. I don't know whether or not the announcement that the game would not have a conclusive finale would bode well for them or not. One thing is for certain though, I'm more excited with Kingdom Hearts 3 than Final Fantasy.

Yes I agree with you. Too me, even though I want to play Final Fantasy XV it has kind of always just been the game that was in the way of Kingdom Hearts 3. I'm also kind of hoping that their won't be sequels as well. I simply want XV to be a great stand alone story like the previous Final Fantasies were before XIII came out. One thing I will say though is that I do have complete faith in Tetsuya Nomura, so if he decides to go forward with sequels, I'm all for it.

Yup, the person behind the development of FF is definitely pretty good. But looking at what happened to FFXI, I'm somehow having my doubts. I have also heard that square will be charging a monthly fee in order for you to play online? Does that mean that the game will always need an internet connection? I hope that this is not true.

To be honest, as much as I love FF games, I never really paid too much attention to the storylines because they tend to be a little outrageous, as is what should be expected in a game with gigantic swords, chocobos and various other impractical elements, I suppose. Don't get me wrong, I find the stories to be very interesting and charming in their own way, but I just never really took them too seriously and instead just enjoyed the charm that they bring. That being said, it's why I'm not really too worried with the continuity of the plot as long as they get the gameplay right.

The success of Final Fantasy 15 will be comparable to FF7. Nomura has put everything he can in this game there working on it for a long time.
I would not be surprised to see a Final Fantasy XV-2. Especially if ff13 was entitled to other episodes.

This will be his second real treasure after Kingdom hearts. Nothing is known of the history that may seem new rich in surprises.;)

Since they made a "World of FF7", with several spinoffs/sidegames and an awful sequel, this has been the strategy with all their major installments. They tried it with the "World of Ivalice/FF12" and now the "World of FF13". Every time they try it, its always mixed results. Remember, this was original FF Versus13, meant to be part of the World of FF13. I think the development hell and mixed reception of 13 prompted them to make it a new installment. To hear they want to continue their World projects is unsurprising news.

I don't like it for me a final fantasy with sequels its not a true FF a final fantasy games must always have an ending for me

I hate that they did this. It just makes me fear they sliced up what Versus was once supposed to be to get it over with already and make more money with it as they would in its original form, all to make up for the expensive mess that was Versus' development cycle.+
It might still be alright. It might be the only way for them to actually finish it, especially without cutting too much content. But it might also ruin what could have been a total masterpiece.

It's funny though how that happened to all 3 of the "FF 13" games. Agito XIII became Type-0 with 1, 2 and 3 announced right away, FF XII got 2 sequels and now Versus became XV with its own sequels announced.
It makes it all feel like they've bitten off way more than they can chew and are now trying to figure out how to get out of all this while still turning a profit.
