Flappy Bird

I saw screenshots but its not a game I'd download. Apparently, the article I read yesterday said he basically went all Dave Chappelle and couldn't handle the fame it was bringing in. It was done by one guy who did it in something like 3 hours. 50k a day in ad revenue, I'd milk that for all its worth. But I guess some people just can't handle it.

How is it a ploy to boost downloads when the app isn't available on the market place anymore?

If he's so concerned about it ruining his life he doesn't answer to anyone. He could just pull it and say tough shit. Instead, he made a big announcement and waited a couple of days. Obviously everyone has heard about it and it's not a stretch to think there would be at least a small boost in downloads in the time between.

Honestly I don't... I don't understand why this is important to people. I just... it looks and plays so crappily. Why? Why, humanity, why? Ah well - at least some lucky slob managed a bit of a mint before running off into the sunset.

He didn't make a big annoucement, he just tweeted that he was taking it down soon...

Though I wonder, does he still get money since the income was from the ads or did he remove the ads?

Yeah, I saw the news about it and can definitely see where Nintendo might have gone after him. Didn't look too crazy exciting, so I didn't bother with it. I have too much other crap to play :)

I think it's totally down as of today, but I didn't check.

I think he's still receiving revenue from the people that still play it. I was still playing and the ads are still there so I bet he's still getting a steady stream of income everyday. I'd pull it down too before some company decides to sue him for copyrighted material since it makes no difference.

I've seen people selling their phones on eBay with Flappy bird on it trying to fetch higher than market value, since it has this game that was removed.

Well on Friday he put out an update to Flappy Bird. The whole UI had an uplift and the Mario Bros. Pipes now look like Super Mario Bros. Pipes :o

Jeez..as I said previously, you can still download it from various blogs/sites and forums.

If you look at the eBay listings you'll find that some will have no bids, or some of the bids are ridiculous and would never actually end up receiving the money for it.

I thought only apps downloaded from the appstore will work with the phones. Unless, they have had their devices jailbroken but I think those that are actually bidding for it may not have a jailbroken phone. Whatever a reason, what people in their right mind would fork out that amount of money for this thing.

Sorry,I was talking about android OS. No jailbreaking to an android phone neccessary as its open source.

My dad just told me today about his friend trying to sell his iPhone 5 with the game on it for £800. I laughed my ass off, and then inquired as to the Apple ID it was connected to. He'd have to sell his whole Apple account also, at that point I just about died.:D

Ive seen many iphones and android phones on ebay advertised on ebay from $800-7500! lol...ridiculous.

I've seen those too. Flappy Bird is serious business apparently. Funny since people complained about the difficulty of the game.

My sister told me about this and I just can't wrap my head around it. She had it on her phone. It didn't seem like anything special.

My sister has Flappy Bird and got it for my little nephew. It's on the difficult side for them both. I figure it was some sort of short term social experiment to test whatever since lab mice can't play Flappy Bird.
