Flipping The Console Over

I remember when I used to watch this video game show on the tv and it was saying that if you ever had any problems playing any game that you should flip the console upside down. I think that I used to do it and I think that it was something that had really worked.

Do any of you guys ever remember having to flip the console over so that you could get a game to work?

Yeah,the PS1? Yeah. That worked for me too.

Yeah I remember that it was something that was on one of those gaming shows that used to come on. I can't remember what the name of the show was but it used to have this white guy and a crazy girl that used to be with him but what they used to do is that they would review games and such. I think it was on that show that I had first saw that idea and when I tried it worked like a charm.

I've never really tried that with a PS1 but I did notice that my PS2 slim, for some reason, reads discs better on it's side...

Yeah I know that it was weird but really back then it was something that really seemd to work. Whenever we had a game that just was not working from the time that we just took to turn the console over it is like the game just started to work automatically. So I really think that it was something that was really working.

I'd forgotten all about that until now…! Yes, I remember several people telling me to flip it upside down if a game ever crashed (or something along those lines).

However I never had the guts too, thinking it would break it altogether – so I'll just have to go on what you all say! I wished I had have done now… I know my friend used to use this trick but he had his console chipped whereas mine was left well alone.

If a game ever crashed (very rarely, my PS1 was generally very reliable), I simply turned off the console mid-game, opened the lid, closed it again and turned it back on.

I've had problems with some of my games as some of them are running abnormally when my console is laid either on the top or side, and as a result I had to flip my PS2 console - even upside down. I owned the "fat" PS2 console, so it was more or less easier to flip it. I recall trying to load Grand Theft Auto: Vice City when the game wouldn't load straight into the prompt screen (New Game, Load Game) and as a result I had to turn my console a number of times.

Bwahahaha! I had completely forgotten about that experience. I remember the flipping PS1 issue only happened with early models of the system. It's funny cause this also occurred similarly with PS2 consoles. Thankfully I took care of my PS2 consoles and rarely had issues with reading disks. It was even an early troublesome model, the Gran Turismo 3 bundle edition. I had SEVERAL friends where certain colored disks wouldn't work (oh its gold, its not gonna work). We even tried taking apart and cleaning/fixing the lens but the little brother ended up dropping the PS2 and breaking it even further LOL. At one point the console had to be postponed at a certain point to play the one style of disk IT COULD PLAY.
